So many ideologic palterers and demagogues couldn't possibly be expected to hash out the details at the expense of their constituency, could they? Realistically, while none of you may like it we're probably going to get a vast and diluted (yes i mean porky and useless)version of this bill, or a stripped down version with no real merit.

I think it's simple:

If the democrats want this so badly, they must sort the differences among themselves and send a bill to President Obama. If they really want it badly enough, they'll accept ownership of it and do it. I think they're too scared to do so.

Republicans see it in their interest to stay as far from this as they can, because if it fails, it will give them political ammunition for 3 or 4 major elections. Unfortunately, this will force them to withhold reasonable ideas from the debate.

This is truly the most simple case of money and power that people of my age have ever been in a position to see on.

Truthfully, I think pilot testing of the efficiency of such programs must be done, and auditted. I'm too pragmatic to believe we should ovehaul the whole thing without seeing simnple results on a small scale first.

She had been in a car crash and actually debated whether or not to call for an ambulance because of the medical expenses she would have to pay.

Compare that with an opponent of Obama's Health Scheme:

NHS has done me no harm and has actually saved my life at least four times.

HR3200, while as insane as it is that something like this is even on the table, is just the first of many bills to come...it's political posturing. The liberals have written the most liberal bill imaginable, so there would be more to compromise with later on down the road...it's politics in its rawest form. This isn't going to be a situation where we wake up tomorrow and a bill has been passed...this is going to be dragged out over a several month period, and its going to be ugly. I am confident though, that HR3200 or any bill on the table right now will not be passed. Don't make me bust out a Schoolhouse Rock link guys...
