A)I do not necessarily dislike what or how you post. Some topics you bring up are of interest, some are not. I respond at times by asking you point blank to explain what it is you are saying. Earlier in this thread, I indicated that if Oak Bluffs was an original (on Martha's Vineyard) then from an architectural standpoint it has significance and value. You responded by saying:

(as a person who was raised as a Methodist and majored in history in college; I am far from ill-informed with regard to Methodist history. Additionally, I spent three years within the Methodist Church on the history committee of that particular church which I was attending at the time, and read the history of the Methodists from the start to where we were at that time. I was accepted into Houghton College and The University of Evansville, two Methodist affiliated institutions of learning. I chose another college instead.)

(and incidentally, I was referring to the Methodist communities on/at Martha's Vineyard, as that seemed to be the locale you were writing of. It was for that reason I did not mention the founding of any Methodist communities on the mainland, I was under the impression that you wanted the topic to be about Martha's Vineyard and/or the Obamas.)

B)The ignore button will also work for you. I choose not to use that feature as I read many posts and when somebody is responding to another it would make continuity difficult since the response would be to something I had not read.



Again, you have created some interesting threads and I have responded within some of them. I would hope that the both of us could continue to do so. Yes, I at times become sarcastic-it's part of my nature-however, I have yet to label you as a moron, a dunce or a scourge or an idiot or any other negative word which you may choose to use. Perhaps we both need to exercise better judgment in selecting our words, eh? That said, if I find a contradiction in what you are saying as opposed to what you said earlier, I will point it out.

Now then. Back to the Obamas. They've landed at the Air Station (formerly called Otis) Base here on the Cape and will shortly being taking a helicopter to the estate where they're staying.

If they've not seen the countryside piece of Martha's Vineyard before they have a treat in store and I wish them a happy vacation. The Island folks are very excited. Good for business too.

Strange how I've been to many places; but, for some reason Marha's Vineyard has never interested me.


I remember years ago-oh this was back around 1980-when I was doing a history paper on Methodism through the ages including John and Chuck Wesley (we always thought him more a Chuck than a Charles) and Barbara (Ruckle) Heck as well as several others and how The Methodist religion had developed and from whence it had developed.

Well, anyway, the point is, Methodist camps and communities were a part of my research. It was interesting. It didn't give me any desire to go to the vineyard then, and I have no such inclination now; though, I suppose to be fair, I perhaps should visit.


I wonder if The Obamas know how the Methodists chased a bunch of wicked moonshiners out back in the winter of '21 (1821). I wonder if that information would alter their view of the area.

At any rate, I hope The President, his wife, the daughters and their dog have a wonderful vacation.
