It seems he's getting alot of flak back home for this trip, how come?
He'd get flack from some people just for breathing at this point.
I would like to know why. Just out of curiosity.
You must be watching Fox (Faux) News. I havent heard of any "flak"...
I have not heard anything negative about the trip. This is about the extent of the reports!
Obama blends ceremony with diplomacy in the United Kingdom - CNN.com
Do you watch "Fox News", wow.:biggrin1:
Because, a good portion of this country has gone batshit crazy, that's why...
That was a helluva "clank" when The Beast got hung up!
The letters pages of the main US newpapers are FULL of negative comments about the cost, about it being little more than an pre election ego booster and him not being in the country during the tornado hit!
In other words, the expected "politics as usual" nonsense from the blindly dedicated opposition that desperately tries to have something to say against Obama to appease their legion of haters at every waking moment. And BTW, he's already addressed tornado victims in the Midwest and will make a visit there on Sunday... or did these people expect him to predict that a level 5 twister was going to hit the Midwest?
Well, he's going down extremely well here. Made positive overtures to Cameron, welcome comments about the 'special relationship', and charmed the Queen out of her tweed suit.
You mean the neo-fascist/fox news view of the world.
I can tell you the rest of the western world doesnt consider conservative nutcases as "mainstream".
Is it possible for you to include a link to what you are reading? I read The Honolulu Star Advertiser, The New York Times weekend edition and Daily Variety so I'm not really reading the mainstream news sources but I would be interested in reading it; if only for entertainment.
The only thing that I've seen that was reported in a negative manner was on NBC news this morning. Someone did not like the dress that Michelle Obama wore to meet the queen.
I've seen some of the negative comments in the two papers I read, but no more than usual.
Of course, if a tornado forecasting capability existed that was accurate enough to predict tornadoes months in advance so the President could arrange his schedule around them, we'd probably reduce tornado-related deaths and injuries to zero.
Don't forget the hair: Mrs. O fails to tame wind-swept hair
Comments from the same people who fall deadly silent when the issue is the trillions of dollars spent on senseless wars in the Mid East. Maybe Blackwater or Halliburton can foot the bill for Obama's trip out of the hundreds of millions of dollars in US-taxpayer-funded profits they reaped from their association with the Cheney war machine.
Very good for us to see the team over here. Helps us to move on from the last incumbent.
The only negative I've noticed about the trip is that the Prez was so nervous about meeting William and Katherin that he 'backdated' his signature in their book (2008)...
I can see how that can happen.... he has so many numbers running through his head right now...
but seriously... not hearing anythng negative here in my parts (or maybe just ignoring some of it.) The tornadoes?? REALLY, I mean REALLY???? Come on, you mean you are telling me that there are people upset b/c he is out of the country during the natural disasters taking place? If that's so then he'd NEVER get to go anywhere.... (and I'm from one of the worst hit areas....) Who cares if he comes personally to survey the damage? All he has to do is CARE! He can do that long distance and still take care of foreign goodwill....
I agree, Drifterwood. The Bush Administration made an indelible (and generally negative) mark on much of the world and it will take years of work to restore trust, rebuild alliances and move on.
