If you don't eat, you cannot possibly become obese. A fast or slow metabolism can make you skinny or chubby, but chubby /= obese.

A healthy diet and regular exercise will serve you well. The Greeks knew this. It seems some fat kids and their parents have forgotten.

I will not get obese or catch a 'fat virus'. Because I eat only three meals a day with a few snacks and I exercise on a regular basis.

Even if you have an obesity predisposition, you can control it by not being a lazy pig.

People tend to be friends with people who enjoy the same sort of things, if you're a gym rat you're hardly likely to hang out with someone whose idea of exercise is going to the kitchen for more popcorn. People's metabolism's do differ so a group of friends can produce a few that don't fit in with the general picture.

Actually this wasn't true for me, although it is becoming true more now.

I was always an active person, but most if not all of my friends were extremely sedentary. Most had chronic health problems and couldn't get out and do much. Also, growing up, I didn't really have friends, and where I lived, girls simply were not active. I was, but I was given a lot of flak for it. I was very slim in my childhood and teens, but gained a lot of weight, unfortunately, after that.

Now, I have more active friends and am hoping that some of their habits rub off on me, as unfortunately I have picked up too many of the habits of my sedentary friends...

I also know I don't eat right, but I don't like to cook, so I just eat out or have something I can pop in the microwave.

So, then, if all my friends wear glasses......then chances are I will think I need to wear glasses.......I need to get new friends with 20/20 vision! Now, where's my Big Mac?

Nah, not quite wld. Today, on the radio, they were speaking about this issue, and it was commented on, that friends who are overweight, tend to encourage their friends to eat with them.

I think there is a small element of peer pressure on the friends as well as the heavier person hoping someone will eat with them.

I oftentimes wonder if the obesity epidemic is partly to blame for the shapeless, baggy clothes that are so common today.

I wonder that too. Did obesity cause fashion to favor baggy clothing or did baggy clothing encourage obesity?

I blame the hip-hop & rap'cultures' for the ridiculously baggy and ill fitting clothes plagueing America.
