I'd imagine some who may have first read the title of this thread just MIGHT have thought the characterization of the reich-winged deep state enablers, architects, and financiers of conservative ideology, AND Trump's cronies who shield, defend, and empower him - as "swine, saboteurs, sycophants, and enemies of the state" - to be a bit "over the top."

Only NOW, I'd imagine MOST, who aren't still TOTALLY conned, bamboozled, and indoctrinated into Trump's twisted cult, upon observing the completely unabashed, unethical, unscrupulous, unapologetic contortions, manipulations, and ACTIONS of his GOP enablers, the conservative pundits of Fox state TV, and his other assorted deplorables

have COME TO THE REALIZATION that the descriptives used in the title of this thread have not only proven to be 100 PERCENT ACCURATE, they, in ways too many to sum up in one sitting, fail to even CAPTURE the full degree of depravity and LACK of anything even remotely resembling duty and honor - on the part of Trump, the GOP, AND company.

Just SOME of the LOWlights:

Jay Sekulow makes a fool of himself in the Senate, so of course the Trump team doubles down

"One of the more baffling moments of the frequently baffling defense offered up by Trump's impeachment team was an extended rant on "lawyer lawsuits" delivered by Trump personal lawyer and co-conspirator to crimes Jay Sekulow. Nobody could figure out what he was going on about. Here’s a taste:

“Lawyer lawsuits? We’re talking about the impeachment... and the managers are complaining about lawyer lawsuits? The Constitution allows lawyer lawsuits. It’s disrespecting the Constitution of the United States to even say that in this chamber. Lawyer lawsuits.”

It now looks like Sekulow's whole rant was based on him completely mishearing House manager Val Demings.

So naturally Team Trump is, rather than admitting that, doubling down on Sekulow's newly discovered bonnet-bug. Of course."

MEANWHILE, Moscow Mitch and his co-conspirators in the Senate are doing precisely what everyone EXPECTED they would. Obstructing and blocking witnesses, documents, etc. etc. While the criminal-in-in chief, continues to commit impeachable offenses by BRAGGING ABOUT IT:

Democrats Demand White House Turn Over Ukraine Testimony From Pence Aide

Trump Brags About Concealing Impeachment Evidence: ‘We Have All the Material, They Don’t’
.
Trump is still flouting the law, even during his impeachment trial.

As state TV (aka Fox) feeds their viewers the usual BULLSHIT:

Fox News fed viewers pro-Trump opinion instead of airing impeachment trial

And to further show their COMPLETE CONTEMPT for rule of law, jurisprudence, THE AMERICAN PEOPLE, and EVEN THE GOVERNING BODY that THEY TOOK AN OATH to uphold, Senate Republicans are ignoring proceedings, arguments, established rules and protocols. They're walking out at will, sleeping, reportedly doing crossword puzzles... you name it.

After all, THEY KNOW THE FIX IS IN.

Lindsey Graham goes into hiding just before Jerry Nadler calls him out—with receipts
,
Chief Justice Roberts lets Senate Republicans show blatant disdain for impeachment proceedings

So yeah, I'd think words like SWINE, SABOTEURS, AND SYCOPHANTS only BEGIN to capture deviously unscrupulous nature of these fkng clown.

Finally, tonight's Closer Look by Seth Meyers - who never fails to succinctly sum up these b-----------ds:

Impeachment trial should remove any lingering doubt: Republicans are beyond redemption | Salon.com Let's face it: Republicans are beyond reason, evidence, reality and hope: All they care about is raw power

"... as I watched the impeachment trial Wednesday, which featured the first day of Democratic House members arguing before the Senate in favor of removing Donald Trump from office, I was struck by the fact that Democrats were making a flawless case.

Their evidence is overwhelming. Their arguments are airtight. The rhetoric was pitch-perfect. It was a tour de force of Enlightenment faith in the power of rhetoric and reason. Rep. Adam Schiff kept morphing, before my eyes, into Atticus Finch, as portrayed by Gregory Peck.

But let's not forget how "To Kill a Mockingbird" ends: Atticus loses his case and his innocent client, Tom, is killed.

No matter how perfectly Democrats argue their case, Republicans plan to acquit Trump and their voters will be ecstatic about it.

Our problem isn't the Democrats and their "messaging." Our problem is the Republicans. Justice has no place in a society run by people who care only about domination and the will to power."

GOP senator blows off new evidence against Trump — days after whining that there was no new evidence – Raw Story

"An explosive report from ABC News on Friday morning detailed an audio recording purportedly of Donald Trump demanding the firing of Marie Yovanovitch, in which the president instructs his henchmen to “get rid of her” and “take her out.”

Sen. John Barrasso (R-WY), when asked by reporters about this new evidence Friday afternoon, blew it off as not a big deal.

“There will be new evidence every day!” he said in shrugging off the purported recording of the president. “There will be something new that comes out every day!”

However, the senator sang a different tune just two days ago when he echoed Republican talking points by complaining that House Democrats’ impeachment trial case hasn’t featured any new evidence."

As if the evidence already given wasn't enough to convict 3x over. Just keep repeating the lie over and over again we know. Just direct the rubes to Fox, Facebook and YouTube and you're home free.

Joseph Goebbels, minister of propaganda for the Nazi German government of the Third Reich, understood the power of repeating falsehoods. “If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it,” he asserted, “people will eventually come to believe it.” This phenomenon, pervasive in contemporary politics, advertising, and social media, is known in cognitive psychology as the “illusory truth effect.”

The implications for daily life, where consumers of news and products are often repeatedly exposed to both plausible and implausible falsehoods, is that even patent lies may slowly become more credible, provided enough repetition. Considering this vulnerability, it becomes critically important to not repeat falsehoods, even while we attempt to debunk them—lest we legitimize lies by reiteration itself.

I Heard It Before, So It Must Be True

Sometimes one ALMOST has to laugh at how farcical this shit can get. Take for instance the following story that ran earlier last week:

Ethics committee warns sitting federal judges not to affiliate with the Federalist Society – Raw Story

"On Wednesday, the Judicial Conference’s Codes of Conduct Committee, a national panel of high-ranking federal judges responsible for policy-making on U.S. courts, released a draft advisory opinion warning federal judges against affiliating with the Federalist Society, one of the nation’s foremost associations of conservative and libertarian lawyers.

The opinion also singled out the American Constitution Society (ACS), the Federalist Society’s progressive counterpart.

“The Committee advises that formal affiliation with the ACS or the Federalist Society, whether as a member or in a leadership role, is inconsistent with Canons 1, 2, 4, and 5 of the Code,” stated the opinion.

“Official affiliation with either organization could convey to a reasonable person that the affiliated judge endorses the views and particular ideological perspectives advocated by the organization;

call into question the affiliated judge’s impartiality on subjects as to which the organization has taken a position; and generally frustrate the public’s trust in the integrity and independence of the judiciary.”

NO SHIT!! So, NOW they're being warned????

FACT IS, right winged federal judges and even members of the Supreme Court have been CLOSELY "affiliated" with moneyed conservative ideologues and entities like the Kochs, the Mercers, the Heritage Foundation, the Federalist Society, ET AL ever since the Reagan years - with people like Scalia and Clarence THOMas scurrying off to attend conservative think tanks and pow wows, etc ON A ROUTINE BASIS.

And in Thomas' case, his wife even heading a conservative group: Is Ginni Thomas’ Expanding Activism a Problem for Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas? – Mother Jones New conflict-of-interest questions raised about wife of Justice Clarence Thomas

AFFILIATING with the Federalist Society??? Hell, most of them owe their fkng JOBS to the Federalist Society. Who the fuck do they think THEY'RE kidding???

"Donald Trump stood in front of a microphone Thursday, gloating about his impeachment trial acquittal and showering his biggest advocates with praise. After entering the White House East Room to the tune of “Hail to the Chief,” he called Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) an “incredible guy,” told Sen. Mike Braun (R-Ind.) he did a “great job” and led a standing ovation for Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.).

Trump had good reason to dole out the back slaps. Since he was charged in December with pressuring Ukraine to help sabotage his political rivals and blocking the House’s attempt to investigate the issue, Republican senators have rallied around him like a fortress wall.

They blocked witnesses from testifying at the Senate trial and used lies, conspiracy theories and acrobatic logic to try to prove his innocence. Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah), the only Republican in the Senate to vote for Trump’s removal from office, has been skewered by [Trump] and some members of the GOP .... On Friday, Trump dismissed two House impeachment witnesses, saying he was “not happy” with them.

And though this behavior might seem like dirty politics as usual, psychologists and professors say the extreme measures Republicans took to defend Trump resemble a more sinister phenomenon: the mentality of cult members."

Lindsey Graham Says AG Barr Has Created a 'Process' to Let Giuliani Provide Biden Info to DOJ
.

Lindsey Graham's disturbing comments about investigating Biden (opinion) - CNN

"Sen. Lindsey Graham stated on CBS News on Sunday morning that Attorney General William Barr has set up a mechanism to receive purportedly damaging information coming from Ukraine, via Rudy Giuliani, about former Vice President (and current Democratic presidential contender) Joe Biden and his son Hunter Biden.

Barr already has sacrificed his integrity and bent the law to do ... Donald Trump's bidding, but this new arrangement, if true, with Trump's personal counsel would invite potential criminality right into the heart of the Justice Department.

The Justice Department has not responded to confirm Graham's comments.

There would be so many things wrong with Barr granting VIP direct access to Giuliani that it's hard to know where to start."

Republicans Ready For a Pre-Election SCOTUS Confirmation

Republicans won’t admit they have to suppress spasms of joy every time Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg has a health problem, like a flare-up of the chronic gallbladder condition that briefly put her in the hospital this week. And I’m sure the more irenic of them would wish her a very long and healthy life — in retirement.

But make no mistake, if anything happens in this election year to bring to a close the SCOTUS career of any justice, the White House and Senate Republicans will initiate a pop-up appointment-and-confirmation drive that will be astonishing in its speed and efficiency.

And far from being embarrassed by the hypocrisy of such a move as contrasted with their unwillingness to give Obama’s nominee Merrick Garland even a hearing in 2016, Republicans will for the most part exult in the proximity of this process to a presidential election.

[Trump] already has an ongoing SCOTUS vetting process and an updated list of ideologically safe prospects in place. After brief consultations with his allies in Congress and MAGA constituency groups, Trump will be ready to name a name very quickly.

As Burgess Everett notes, the confirmation machine is ready to go, too.

Senate Republicans made Trump a monster. Americans deserve answers
upload_2020-5-28_23-37-8.jpeg

Practically anything at all Senate Republicans say about Trump right now is newsworthy, particularly those in tight reelection bids this year. Naturally, I'm thinking of Sens. Susan Collins of Maine, Cory Gardner of Colorado, Martha McSally of Arizona, Thom Tillis of North Carolina, Joni Ernst of Iowa, David Perdue of Georgia, and others too.

Precisely because they are the caucus that voted to save Trump's [occupancy] and keep him at the helm of the country's pandemic response, reporters should make Senate Republicans own up to that decision and either stand by it or flee. And Trump offers a never-ending stream of material with which to work.

GOP ripped for refusing to remove Trump from office: ‘Folly of that failure becomes clearer by the day’ – Raw Story

Republicans seeking to keep control of the United States Senate were harshly criticized by the St. Louis Post-Dispatch for failing to remove ... Donald Trump from office during impeachment.

“For four years now, as both a candidate and ()resident, Donald Trump has repeatedly attacked America’s voting system, falsely claiming voter fraud any time it suited his needs.

In a new low, last week he threatened the federal funding of two states over their reasonable moves to facilitate mail-in voting,” the newspaper noted in an editorial published online on Memorial Day. “What does it say that the head of the world’s leading democracy is so intent on undermining that democracy?”

Roger Stone: "I really don't feel like arguing with this negro."

In Southern California KFI 640 is considered to be an entertaining, if somewhat conservative talk station. KFI has a boffo weekday lineup from Bill Handel in the morning, through John & Ken at midday (who are nominated for a Golden Mike) to Tim Conway Jr. in the evening. As one of the largest and highest-rated radio stations in the country, it's somewhere a guest being interviewed doesn't want to screw-up. Naturally Donald Trump pal Roger Stone had to shoot his mouth off, confirming everybody's preconceived belief about the man with strange flat head and rag doll hair. Seems that Trump's SYCOPHANTS in the House are now getting antsy about their futures, some even trying to lay the blame at the feet of one of their own. (see the reminder graphic in the first story):
.

Trump House sycophants now concerned about being Trump sycophants
.
Next year’s collective Republican amnesia will be something to behold. They’re all going to pretend that he never existed as they rediscover their supposed “values” like not surrendering to Russia, family values (for thee, not me), and concern over budget deficits.

But for now, Republicans are still marching in lockstep toward that November cliff called “Election Day.” At least they’re doing so publicly. Privately? They’re being extra ridiculous.

“Discontent with Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy is on the rise in the House, as Republicans increasingly fearful of a loss by ...Trump on Election Day gear up for an intraparty war over the future of the GOP,” reports The Washington Post.

Ha ha ha ha ha ha. This is rich.

Every single Republican in the House voted against articles of impeachment against Trump. The lone conservative who voted yes, Michigan Rep. Justin Amash, had to leave the party and become an independent to do so.

'Enemies of the state': Pelosi rips Trump and Republicans for undermining faith in 2020 election results and mail-in voting | The Independent
.
Speaker Nancy Pelosi branded Donald Trump and Republicans in Congress "enemies of the state" for antagonising — and, in the Democrats' view, actively sabotaging — the US Postal Service ahead of sweeping mail-in voting initiatives for the 2020 elections.

“We take an oath to protect and defend the Constitution from all enemies, foreign and domestic. And sadly, the domestic enemies to our voting system and honouring our Constitution are right at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue with their allies in the Congress of the United States,” Ms Pelosi said in an interview with MSNBC, when asked to explain why just 45 per cent of respondents to a recent poll said they are confident in the integrity of the upcoming election results.

"They're doing everything they can [to] suppress the vote with [their] actions: scare people, intimidate by saying law enforcement will be there, diminish the role of the postal system in all of this. It's really, actually shameful. Enemies of the state," Ms Pelosi said.

.
The leader of the U.S. Office of the Special Counsel was blasted on Tuesday for allowing first lady Melania Trump to use the White House Rose Garden for her Republican National Committee Convention speech.

“Imagine being the head of the [Office of the Special Counsel], which is responsible for enforcing the Hatch Act, and standing by silently as [Trump] and his staff abuse the people’s government by using the White House to host a party’s nominating convention,” the former director of the Office of Government Ethics, Walter Schaub, posted on Twitter. “You’d go down in history as complicit.”

Having caught postmaster DeJoy in a lie, House demands details of his contacts with Trump campaign

As is absolutely necessary, House Democrats are demanding that Postmaster General Louis DeJoy provide details about all of his communications with anyone connected to the Donald Trump campaign. Rep. Gerry Connolly, chair of the Government Operations Committee, is following up on Monday's hearing with DeJoy before the full committee. Connolly seized on contradictory statements DeJoy made in Senate committee testimony last Friday and the House hearing on Monday.

In his letter Connolly reminds DeJoy that he told the Senate, "I've had no contact with the Trump campaign. I have not—I mean, I've spoken to [Trump], I've spoken to Steve Mnuchin, I've spoken to other people. But I've had no contact—about the Postal—I’ve not spoken to anyone about the Postal Service." Really?

Like I said, THE REAL DEEP STATE:

Sen. Whitehouse claims that an unknown organization is behind GOP SCOTUS Strategy
https://www.dailykos.com/stories/20...wn-organization-is-behind-GOP-SCOTUS-Strategy
Senator Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) was on Rachel Maddow about 45 minutes ago to talk about the Democratic effort to prevent Mitch McConnell and the GOP from confirming a Trump nominee to Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s SCOTUS seat. He said something quite provocative during this interview.

After outlining how the right wing has used the courts in general, and SCOTUS in particular, to achieve policy outcomes that they could never hope to win in Congress — such as unlimited corporate money in politics — Whitehouse claimed that

“The fact of the matter is that a small group of very big donor interests — powered up by Citizens United dark money...has now the power to pull strings and to drive behavior and they’ve determined that they want to control the Court.”

Sen. Whitehouse concluded by saying that “They’re up to 80 of these partisan 5 to 4 decisions under Roberts, and we’ve looked at the worst ones but we’ve missed the pattern. There’s a pattern here, and there is a[n] organization behind it, and if we don’t take that on, we are making a huge strategic mistake.”

the REAL Deep State:

Secretive group that bankrolled Kavanaugh nomination now pouring money into Barrett’s confirmation – Raw Story

A secretive conservative group is bankrolling the confirmation battles for Donald Trump’s Supreme Court nominees, but it’s not clear who funds that activity.

The right-wing Judicial Crisis Network has spent $27 million in dark money to block President Barack Obama’s 2016 Supreme Court nominee, only to turn around and spend millions ushering Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh through their confirmation process, reported The Daily Poster.

The shadowy organization, originally founded in 2004 to promote President George W. Bush’s judicial nominees, received $15.9 million from a single donor between July 2018 and June 2019, when the group was promoting Kavanaugh’s controversial nomination.

JCN will now spend at least $10 million to promote the also controversial nomination of Amy Coney Barrett to replace the recently deceased Ruth Bader Ginsburg just weeks before the presidential election.

The Insurrection Was Put Down. The GOP Plan for Minority Rule Marches On. – Mother Jones

How Republicans are breaking democracy.

In 2018, Democrats swept every statewide race in Wisconsin, ending nearly a decade of Republican rule. “The voters spoke,” Democrat Tony Evers said after defeating incumbent Gov. Scott Walker. “A change is coming, Wisconsin!”

A month later, the GOP-controlled legislature convened an unprecedented lame-duck session to strip the incoming governor of key administrative and appointment powers and shorten the early voting period to dampen future Democratic turnout.

Even though Democrats won 54 percent of votes cast for the state Assembly, Republican control of the last redistricting process in 2011 allowed the GOP to keep almost two-thirds of seats. That legislature set to work nullifying Evers’ agenda, refusing to confirm members of his Cabinet and by cutting his budget for priorities like health care, schools, and roads. They thwarted his efforts to fight COVID-19, and persuaded the courts to block his stay-at-home order
....

Between gerrymandering and laws designed to reduce the influence of Democratic constituencies—by making it harder to vote, repealing limits on political giving, and stripping unions of collective bargaining rights—Republicans had effectively made Wisconsin “a democracy-free zone.”

Their efforts helped conservative candidates win a majority on the state Supreme Court, which has upheld nearly every move by the legislature to weaken Evers’ power, creating an almost-impenetrable anti-democracy feedback loop in a state that Joe Biden won.

“The way that Republican legislators have relentlessly sought to weaponize the courts and torpedo the governing power of Tony Evers is a preview of how Mitch McConnell and Republicans will treat Joe Biden,” says Wikler. “Democrats should prepare accordingly.”

The Wisconsin saga showed how much power Republicans can exert without popular support, and it’s about to be replicated on a much larger scale. The violent invasion of the Capitol on January 6 drew rebukes from many Republican lawmakers. But it reflected, in extreme form, something Republicans have long displayed:

a disregard for the will of the majority..
