Another thing to consider is that the longer you're involved in porn, the more likely it is that you'll become jaded and get into more extreme sex, and plain vanilla just won't do it for you any more, which will affect any relationship you might have in the future. That doesn't happen to everyone, but it does to some.

What's wrong with sex that isn't vanilla sex?

There's nothing wrong with wanting sex that isn't vanilla and while I haven't done real porn just exhibitionism on Xtube I've never been into vanilla sex with women at all.

I also know lots of men like me who are just into BDSM/kink/non-vanilla sex naturally and it's a lot more common than people think or want to admit.

There are numerous problems with a background in porn. It can unfortunately spell the end for careers in teaching especially if younger children are involved. It can spell the end if you find yourself at some future point needing a security clearance and somehow this were to be revealed. It can become a problem in world travel in some countries. There are places which are very tough on those who even in the past have done porn. If you really wanted to do it, make certain that you do not use your real name, AND if you do solo stuff as has already been said, your face appearing is not the best idea. Also remember one other thing. Laws governing what is porn and what constitutes indecent or immoral behavior are constantly changing. You have some potential to be prosecuted fifteen years from now if some ultra-conservative viewpoint were to come into control. All in all it is not the present that is the problem. The problem is the unknown future and all of the variables that it could present in your own life...... Personally, I'd pass on it.

i was an inch away from doing porn...a very well known porn studio was about to buy my ticket to florida but i decided against it.i dont know how old you are but i agree with jenna jameson when she said under 21 is too young..i still want to do but ill keep it as a last resort, theres really no bouncing back from it, i figure.its really just a job thats so hard to make into a career that could possibly ruin any other careers..i couldnt deal with that, but good luck !

If you do it, don't just lay there, be proactive. Get a blog together, build your fan base, and go interviews.

I was recently asked to do solo vids for this company and get paid a decent amount..

What are the pro's and con's of this situation?

What are your thoughts?

Thanks
David

I'm currently an active (hetero) adult actor. I don't use the term "porn star," because I'm not well known enough to be a "star." But I am established and have worked in many films. I will continue to do more films also, and just agreed to shoot several scenes during the next few weeks. And wish me luck... I just met with the talent director for Hustler at the top of the Larry Flynt building in Beverly Hills (crossing my fingers). That would be a huge break that could make me a full-on "star."

Anyhow... In the past, I worked as a successful sales representative. Who knows...I've been on LPSG so long that I may even have posts about my previous occupations. I also have a BA degree from a major university. Though I had dabbled in porn with some smaller productions over the past couple of years, I just recently dived in head-first.

Should you do it? Well, first you must know that "solo" porn offers are very common and are not considered legit gigs by established hetero porn stars. I noticed that your profile says you are mostly straight. In porn, "solo" equals "gay." I just thought you should know that. Producers are constantly looking for new guys to do "solo." And they LOVE to get straight (gay-for-pay) guys. In all honesty, they will likely only use you once. And no... it is not "an audition for future boy-girl work." Those dirtbags say that all the time to get straight guys to do "gay" work. I guess I'm saying that you should only do it if you understand that it is gay porn and do not plan on entering hetero porn, because it won't even be usable for your "reel." You will, in fact, be hiding that scene from other producers and it in no way helps your career if you are an aspiring hetero porn star.

Now... for the overall question. Should you do porn, period? Well, I didn't start until my late 20s. And I had worked several careers prior to starting. I have no regrets thus far, but it's because my decision was very planned out. I came to a point to where I was okay with people/family around me knowing about it. Actually, most of my immediate family is deceased. In addition, my girlfriend--whom I love--is completely okay with it and encourages me in my career. Finally, I am not interested in working in the corporate world anymore. I now consider myself any entrepreneur and actually have realistic plans of segwaying my "acting" experience into producing, etc., which is where the real money is anyway. Choosing to do porn is choosing to rebel against the norm. It is a great alternative for people looking to live a life very different from "normal." Yes the chicks are hot, and it can be fun--though stressful.

Regarding STDs... they are actually very rare in professional porn, which brings up another negative. The reason disease does NOT plague the community, is because every legitimate actor is tested every 28 days. Yes...the test involves a needle, and it costs $120 every time. Of course it's necessary, and I'm glad the industry sticks to the code. But it is annoying, and something you don't have to worry about with normal jobs.

Finally... most guys can't do porn even if they want to. Trust me, performing on camara is harder than anyone can possibly imagine, unless they've done it.

Should you do it or not?

Only if you are ok with all of the potential downfalls of doing the job. Seems to me that the list of 'cons' surpasses the list of 'pros'......
....lets see.
PROs
1.) You make some easy money, fast.
2.) you have some sex, potentially with some hotties :)

CONs (potential cons, obviously)
1.) your friends and family may discover it.
2.) future girlfriends/boyfriends/spouse will want to know
3.) any person or stranger you meet may recognize you from your porn movie/pics.....
...and believe it or not, this will happen more often than not, while you are at...
work, on vacation, with friends/family/loved ones, at the grocery store, at the gym, in your neighborhood, at anytime in your life from here on out.
4.) this will threaten any potential you may have for a public life in politics/acting/activism, etc...
5.) it will be with you for the rest of your life. Once pictures/movies enter the internet....and you SIGN away all rights to the images of yourself, you have NO control how they are distributed, you recieve no future earnings, no extra money, no anything. The only thing you keep is the burden of having done a porn.

If these are things you can live with....I say GO FOR IT! It is a decision that must be considered with much thought. I have known many guys who have done porn. Most have been for online websights. Their feelings after doing it were a mix of good and bad......but, mostly bad. The ones who have made it their profession have little regrets. The guys who only did it a few times for the cash, they regret it the most when they get recognized, by creepy trolls, in public, having fun with friends. It breaks the mood and can be a real downer for them. Mostly, it just creeps them out that they are recognized.

there is no such thing as easy money.

Great advice!!! If you are doing it for the quick money...DON"T. If you are doing it to make a career, gain notoriety and contacts, and use that notoriety and contacts for bigger ($$$) purposes, then it may work out. :biggrin1:

The one thing to remember is that by agreeing to be filmed they will own the footage and can do whatever the hell they like with it. If they decide to use you as their new face of advertising with banners on xtube or somewhere similar, you wont have any come back - they will make sure you sign a contract that is water tight.

Try to think of all the possible outcomes that could happen, if you're comfortable with all of them then you haven't got much to lose. I do think that you should approach such an offer with a great deal of caution as you are putting yourself on the line, not them.

I'd be carefull, as good as it might sound, many of even the well know producers aren't to be trusted. If you decide to do it, make sure you sign a contract saying what you are willing to do, what they can do with the footage, how long they will be filming and what you are paid. If they tell you thay cant provide such a contract, run - because they can, If never filmed without such contracts.

This is my concern. I have heard that just about any sex worker contracts something. People in this business have layed with many people, and you are laying with them. This means almost 100% they have something and so will you.

Actually, that is false. Reputable companies within the porn industry require regular std testing, and most also require condom usage.

If you get into barebacking though you are taking a risk regardless of regular testing.

If you do, don't go into politics later on in life because your past will come to haunt you.

I only agree with the fact that it will come to surface; but you must GO into politics (or any other thing) if you wish to.

Doing porn is not a crime. Nothing to be ashamed of.

if anyone has contacts for str8 porn in australia let me know

go to aussieamateurs.com.au where they have email addresses for contacts, my mate and his wife did a dvd filmed here in adelaide which you can still buy. On the website she has the massive tits and is called Sinnamon, so I know the contact is legit but I have had problems getting a response from the emais I have sent. Maybe you will have better luck.
I have another mate here in adelaide who definately has whats needed for the industry and he is itching to get into it too so if you have any response from your emails, let me know so I can send some more.
I think the guys name is Russell that will be receiving the emails.

Hope it helps mate:cool:
