Oh God, another tsunami warning!

A pair of powerful quakes measuring 7.3 followed nearly immediately by a 7.9 off of Vanuatu has issued another tsunami warning for NZ!

We are clearing the beaches and low beach lands again!

With luck, Vanuatu is too far for the wave to carry enough power to be a threat here. Like the last one, this one should just dissipate into a very small one! God willing.

This pacific ring of fire shit is not fun! :frown1:

Like California, NZ is awaiting the 'big one'! A very really threat here.

I worry the recent quake activity is the start of a quake storm that may trigger the NZ big one.

And this is a very interesting Quicktime animation of the propogation of the 2004 tsunami. Notice all the reverberations and secondary waves that slosh around the Indian Ocean. Slight effects were noticed as far away as Alaska and Greenland!

Because of those reverberations and secondary wave fronts, be cautious about approaching the ocean until the official all clear announcement is issued following a tsunami warning.

If theres an earthquake here just run to Te Papa.. They have those base isolator things underneath lol.. But a tsunami would scare me shitless... though being on the east side; we are kind of shielded here in Christchurch.

I can see Mt Hood, Mt. Adams, and Mt. St. Helens from my neighborhood. Hood and St. Helens occasionally undergo minor sub-terranean temblors but its been several years since I've felt any shaking.
