I don't think he had control, I think he had influence. Certainly the writers and showrunners are also to blame.

Certainly might be too strong a word to use. It's possible the writers never intended to develop his characters story like the heterosexual characters, it's also possible they did. There are a lot of variables that could have come into play: did Nick decide not to do anything risque, did he agree but ask for more than they were willing to pay, was his character never going to have nude scenes, etc.

I find that making the distinction between what I call “regular” handsome and “model” handsome helps here. I think Nick falls into the former category and not the latter. That’s not a dig, both types have their pros and cons
