I rarely believe a man when he states he is bisexual. Far too many societal inhibitions for men to deal with to be blunt and 100% honest. Men have a very hard time overcoming a patriarchal society's stigmas. That of appearing vulnerable: were it emotional, socioeconomic, physical or a varying mix of these.

I identify as a straight male. But every so often have sex with men.

Obviously, the sex I have with men is homosexual. But I'm not interested in men so much as I'm simply horny and want to get my rocks off. (I can have a man at my front door ready to suck me off in less time than it takes to order a pizza.) I never date men and I can't see myself falling in love with a man.

My entire emotional being is wrapped up in girls. Chasing them, dating them, marrying them, getting dumped by them. I notice good-looking girls in ways I almost never pay attention to men's looks. (If I happen to notice a good-looking man I tend to be jealous -- "I'll bet he gets more pussy than Frank Sinatra. I wish I had his looks.")

So by your account, my bisexual activities means I'm really a deeply and profoundly confused gay man, no matter how passionately interested I am in pussy?

Thanks for clearing that up for me.

studies have shown:
most humans are sexual
most men identify with mostly straight OR mostly gay
most women identify with straight, gay AND both

Not ALL, but MOST.

Maybe men are, or would be more apt to express, bisexuality if tractor-pulls, ties (like a hang mans noose) and weapons weren't so deeply ingrained in the "norm" behavior.

Actually... studies citing self reportage are suspect and not considered valid for the very societal inhibition effects you mention.

In point of fact, properly conducted studies of sexual response that are not reliant on self reportage clearly indicate that MOST men are, in fact, bi-sexual to some degree.

Society, by and large, FORCES men to make a declaration of being all one thing or all another.
Group dynamics have an In Group/Out Group tribal quality that presses conformity to a given norm. Natural reactions that violate the norms of the group you identify with are suppressed, denied, and even reacted to angrily or violently.

The majority of men Report themselves to be straight.
But stick a plethysmograph on their Dicks and show them gay porn and 50% of self ascribed straight males get aroused. A further 25% get full on chubbys.

So, whereas 10% of the male population will self identify as Gay.... a full 75% of the men self identifying as straight actually show sexual arousal in response to gay sexual imagery.

The data support the notion that male sexual attraction and response is a Spectrum with a Minority at either end that are truly single gender responsive... And the rest of the population having some mixture of sexual response based upon some mixture of developmental genetics and early conditioning/experiences.

I know guys who are genuinely straight who learned to like gay sex because they liked getting blown every single night...

And god knows there are plenty of Gay men who have lived in marriages where they were able to sexually respond to their wives.

The truth is we all may tend to have a preference... and most of us COULD be open to sexual pleasure with the other gender.... but we are pressured to pick a side, and pretend to not have the non-conforming response.

History and prison proves that most men, with practice, can shed their societal inhibitions and can learn to enjoy homosexual activity.

One of the first things you learn in cultural anthropology is to take with suspicion what a people SAY their beliefs and behavior's are... and try to find out what they Actually Do and what that says about what they really believe.

This hyper-religious society wants everybody to be straight... and those who CAN'T be straight to ENTIRELY SEPARATE.....

And the Gay community wants every guy who WILL suck a cock to ONLY suck cock and become full on supportive members of their community.

This comes down to a power issue...
I say don't let yourself be defined by a communal power structure.

The thing I find hard to believe is men claiming to be 100% straight OR 100% gay.

THOSE are the true rarities... The sexual Saquatches, the Not Yetis...
the Cock Less monsters..

I think it's sort of limiting, not to mention pretty much impossible to assign percentages relative to something so fluid as one's sexuality.

I'm pretty much gay, but I fully beleive there are guys out there like you, Kris, who really do get into both guys and girls. I guess I don't understand why some gay guys feel threatened by that to the point of saying that there is no such thing as a truly bisexual man...that in reality you are just a closeted gay man claiming bisexuality because you're too afraid to admit to really being gay. That's a bunch of bullshit.

Are you happy fucking women one day, and are you comfortable with wanting to blow a guy the next? Then that's all that matters, bud.

Now, despite what I said about percentages of sexuality pretty much being silly, I do have to admit, Kris....I certainly wouldn't mind encountering you on one of your 60/40 days! :)

Phil is eloquent and grounded in reality, as always.

I prefer to dispense with the percentages entirely. I am bi. Period. Capable of giving my all (100% I guess you could say) to either a man or a woman, or preferably to both at the same time.

Hi Kris,

I'm not so much impressed with what you've declared in your percentages, but I am VERY impressed that you've declared a change to your percentages! I think it's a great thing to show that you have the courage to reevaluate that and consider it more fluid than people will often allow themselves to believe. I honestly wonder if it's that much harder for a 'straight' person to come out than it is for a gay person to declare themselves straight. Perhaps it's only as hard as the time you've stuck to one label?
I know there's been times in my past when I have said I was gay on the basis of wanting to stick to the gay identity I thought I had, rather than making a real consideration of it. Not to say giving a blanket response doesn't have it's uses (I just don't have the time to reevaluate this every time I get horny!), but I think people of all 'percentages' can tend to be a bit stubborn about it.

Good on you for facing something that could be quite revolutionising to your life.

i'm bi and i like that. it's not i like to say that i'm bi, it's all about sexual atraction. when i see a girl who looks very good i have erection the same reaction i have when i see a guy. i'm very selective in both cases, i like only a type of men or girl.
