Speaking of old favorites... "Mildred Pierce" is on TCM right now! I just enjoyed quite thoroughly watching Mildred smack the nasty out of her daughter Vita! LOL!

Watching it right now! It's still great and did you catch Double Indemnity just before?

My big problem with this is that I don't find Joan Crawford attractive. Still, some great performances in this including Eve Arden who richly deserved that Oscar nomination.

Unfortunately, no. I just got home before "Mildred Pierce" came on. I love this channel!

TCM does amazing things for high quality cinema. They consistently have the best programming on TV. Only reason I got a higher tier channel line-up was to get this channel and it's worth it.

I remember these old movies aired on off network TV stations growing up. When they happen to be on the air again I usually watch them.

Breakfast at Tiffany's

Paper Moon

Midnight Cowboy

The Effect of Gamma Rays on Man on the Moon Marigolds

Barefoot in the Park

Hello Dolly (the Gene Kelly version)

What's up Doc?

Good Neighbor Sam (I love Jack Lemon)

The Apartment

How to Marry a Millionaire

Some Like it Hot

Sadly, I remember seeing your list of these very movies when they were new and played for the first time in movie houses. You can add Hud to that list, too. I'm old.

GREAT thread -

Trouble with Angels; Bells of St. Mary; Auntie Mame (RR version); Come to the Stable;
Latter Days; Francis of Assisi (with Mickey Rourke - it's a role I never thought he could do); Going My Way; Silence of the Lambs; Foul Play; Pretty Woman.

Around the late 30s, Joan's looks were transformed when she met Max Factor and not to mention having her teeth capped that was ordered by Louis B. Mayer. That's when you have the cold looking Joan Crawford of the 40s, 50s, and 60s. Around during her flapper days of the 20s and most of the depression filled 1930s, Joan was a completely looking person then.

Though there is one actress that I could never get tire of and it is this woman, so forgive me. This was one of my favorite actors ever. Her dialogue is so witty. I don't think there was any other actor that can top her, well except Bea Arthur.

YouTube - Auntie Mame needs a job.
