I find that people who do not leave their homes, (and who perhaps may need help reaching those hard-to-reach areas on their bodies during hygene rituals) have a similar smell to me, regardless of age. In fact, the person, and everything in the persons house smells like it. Nursing homes tend to stink of it. My grandmother's cousins, my aging neighbor, my homeboy's grandmother, another homeboy's mother and my grandfather's apartment (but oddly, not my grandfather) and my other grandmother all smell like it. Whatever it is. I assume it's a hygene issue. I assume they all need help reaching something that's not getting bathed. I also assume they aren't moving enough, and aren't getting enough air. I assume these things, because it seems a reasonable conclusion to draw knowing the people in question. None of the elderly at my church smell like it, but they are all getting out a few times a week. My one grandmother doesn't smell like it. My aunt did, once, when she was home sick for a few weeks. haha! Children are so honest about odors! There are photos of me, as a small child, all over the house of my grandmother's 100+ year old cousin, making the screwiest face about her scent. Hilarious. I'd never make faces like that today.

Maybe I'm the only one who thinks this... but why do all old people smell the same? They have that one distinct smell, and no one but an old person has it. Did they all buy a huge jug of the same kind of perfume back in the 40s and are still using it today? what?

Maybe some of the older people can give us a little insight on this phenomena?

:biggrin1:

Yes, my boy, it is referred to as the smell of rotting flesh.

It's because your olfactory is so fucked up by all the pot you've been smoking.

You should live so long as to have "old people smell."
