Old Testament "abominations" put into perspective

Interesting how there are over six hundred laws in Leviticus and only one of them is fanatically quoted by the the self-righteous in the religious community.

Thanks for posting the link to the video out take. I remember Dr. Laura (I believe she has a doctorate in physiology?) was asked similar questions regarding the do's and don'ts outlined in Leviticus. The caller asked if he had a religious right to not be persecuted for burning a sacrificial calf in his back yard and thereby avoid being given a citation for stinking up the neighborhood for having open fires. Dr. Laura cut him off, then went on a tirade about how incorrect the caller's citations from the King James version of the bible were. Of course, none of his citations were incorrect.

The Book of Leviticus is evil.
18:22 Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination
(there it is: two guys having sex is an abomination)
20:13 If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.
(this is a passage that is pure evil. There's no way around it. If two guys have sex, they must be put to death; spill their blood)
Here is the Old Testament (Deuteronomy) discussing fashion:
22:5 The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman's garment: for all that do so are abomination unto the LORD thy God.
(women shall not wear men's clothing -- or vice versa)
23:17 There shall be no whore of the daughters of Israel, nor a sodomite of the sons of Israel (Deuteronomy)
(These ancient jews were so homophobic; so unlike their contemporary Greek counterparts. To these various jewish cults wandering through the desert 2500 years ago, any sex not specifically undertaken for the sole purpose of procreation was an "abomination" )
David and Jonathan have a homosexual affair (1 Samuel).
18:1 And it came to pass, when he had made an end of speaking unto Saul, that the soul of Jonathan was knit with the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul.

Then, we're back to more sodomite-bashing (1 King):
14:24 And there were also sodomites in the land: and they did according to all the abominations of the nations which the LORD cast out before the children of Israel.
15:12 And he took away the sodomites out of the land, and removed all the idols that his fathers had made.
2 Kings:
23:7 And he broke down the houses of the sodomites, that were by the house of the LORD, where the women wove hangings for the grove.
Sometimes God hates homosexuals so much, he'll destroy entire cities (Genesis):

19:24 Then the LORD rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the LORD out of heaven;
This "Good Book" is rife with homophobia; in fact, with any sex for the purpose of the pleasure of sex.
Reject these passages. They are evil. They have done considerable harm.

The "Good Book," while there is much wisdom in it, is a book that has been used for great evil in the world. It is not the word of God, but the work of men attributed to God with translations and variations of text over thousands of year based on the agenda of the translator and those that use it.
