Love Nina Simone! I found out about her while looking up alto/contralto singers for karaoke. (Because that's my vocal range..) I've actually "discovered" several great singers that way!)

I also really like Nat King Cole.

Wondering how far back is considered "oldies but goodies" now - I'm sometimes seeing songs from the 1990s classified as "oldies" now! (gee thanks, make me feel REALLY old, why don'tya? :biggrin1:)

So far I'll agree with "That's Life" I never tire of listening to it. This is also a longtime favorite. I could listen to Bessie Smith all day on a rainy afternoon.

A few that come to mind:

Frank Sinatra's - Strangers In The Night and All The Way
Patula Clark's - You Don't Have To Say You Love Me
Tony Bennett's - I Left My Heart In San Francisco
Willie Nelson's - Always On My Mind (Elvis' version is pretty good also)
Elvis' - Can't Help Falling In Love With You
    Percy Sledge's - Whan A Man Loves A Woman
Steve Lawrence's - Portrait Of My Love
    Brian Hyland's - Sealed With A Kiss

I bet some of you younger members are not familiar with many of these?

I'll go along with many of these choices; however I have not been able to get my arms around that anything recorded in my lifetime is an oldie, but OK:redface:
