Gotta wonder why and how the QAnon congresswoman who demonized victims of an atrocity got picked by GOP Senate leaders to head an education committee of all things.

Trump endorsed her candidacy and she's recently said she has Trump's full approval.

Did Trump tell his GOP Senate subordinates to pick her? Inquiring minds would like to KNOW:

Parkland, Sandy Hook Parents: Marjorie Taylor Greene Has 'No Place' In Congress | HuffPost

Parents of children murdered in school shootings are intensifying the push for the removal of Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) from Congress. The freshman lawmaker was filmed harassing a shooting survivor and has repeatedly cast doubt on whether a number of mass shootings were real.

There have been growing calls for her resignation, including from several gun safety groups, since last week, when social media exchanges were unearthed showing her agreeing enthusiastically with commenters who said school shootings were staged. This week, a 2019 video surfaced showing Greene badgering David Hogg, who has lobbied for gun reform since 17 people were killed at his high school in Parkland, Florida, in 2018.

She was appointed by Republican leadership this week to the House Education and Labor Committee.

MEANWHILE, other blowback:

Sure. Don't mind reposting it. After I gather a few more stories to post with it.

Btw I think it belongs here too because a common theme of THIS thread is blowback, consequences, a calling out unacceptable people and things for who and what they are.

Also, if I've already posted a number of items in one thread I'm likely to spread out the other stories in other threads, so as not to have a laundry list of items in one thread like I used to do.

However YOU or anyone else are more than welcome to post ANYTHING I post, anywhere.

Trying to erase the history of what they've done and said:

Video Shows Kyle Rittenhouse Ask Cops To Delete His Social Media

^ - Hours after his arrest, accused killer Kyle Rittenhouse asked police to delete his social media.

Newly released police video shows the Illinoisan accused of killing two people during unrest in Wisconsin last summer. Kyle Rittenhouse never asks about the three men who he shot but asks an officer if he can get therapy.

In the video, he discusses deleting his social media with his mother, who was present throughout. His mother asks if he remembered his Facebook and Snapchat passwords.

"You're already labeled a white supremacist gun person," his mother says at one point, to which Rittenhouse asks her to stop talking.

After a decade of the her and her husbands reported associations with right winged players like the Kochs, Heritage Foundation, connected entities and supporters, and similar groups A Brief History of Clarence Thomas' Ethical Entanglements - The Atlantic , and after her OWN association and support of those whose efforts were to overturn a legitimate presidential election Ginni Thomas apologizes to Clarence Thomas's Supreme Court clerks after Capitol riot fallout - The Washington Post, Mrs. Thomas NOW has an apology:

Justice Clarence Thomas’ Trump-Supporting Wife Pens Apology

better late than never? MEANWHILE:

AOC gets honest about why she thinks some Republicans want people to just move on from Capitol riots

On Monday evening, Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez took to Instagram Live for more than one hour to share more of her personal experience during the pro-Trump insurgency at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6. A mob of Trump supporters stormed the Capitol less than a month ago, but with the current news cycle, time can feel both suspended and eerily fast. Even still, Ocasio-Cortez’s emotional, brave, and moving discussion about her experience brings viewers right back to the day we watched the violence unfold.

“I thought I was going to die,” the New York representative stated to more than 100,000 viewers. In the video captioned “What Happened at the Capitol,” Ocasio-Cortez also talked about being a survivor of sexual assault, compound traumas, spirituality, her belief that being told to “forget what’s happened” without even an apology is the same tactic abusers use, and that these stakes are about more than just a difference of opinion; it’s about “basic humanity.”

Ocasio-Cortez compared Republican Sens. Ted Cruz and Josh Hawley to abusers who try to silence and dismiss survivors in their continued efforts to downplay the riots.

Perhaps the biggest one-line takeaway we can all carry into the future:

“All of these people who want to tell us to move on are doing so at their own convenience,” said Ocasio-Cortez. That’s a sentiment that works for pretty much any scenario—especially when it comes to Trump lackeys trying to clear their names and weasel back into positions of politics and power.

Seems to me, that naming obviously under-educated believers in conspiracy theories as "Conspiracy Theorists", gives them way too much credit.

They should be re-branded as "Conspiracy Followers", because that is all they really are. There is no fuckin' way that Marjorie Taylor Greene could actually formulate a "theory" of her own. She just regurgitates what she hears from her "mentors" in the QAnon addicted Trumpster circles on the Internet, and fact and science denying news outlets like FAUX News, etc.

LAGNIAPPE:

Marjorie Taylor Greene Week Leaves Me Longing For Infrastructure Week’s Simple Incompetence - Shower Cap Blog

excerpts:

I almost hesitate to yank away the warm, fuzzy blanket of Biden-y normalcy, but shit remains deeply cray. In fact, we’re witnessing a disturbing number of (admittedly weak-minded) public officials carefully, deliberately choosing the crayest available options from a buffet well-stocked with sane alternatives, and while I appreciate that cult deprogramming is difficult, just…just give us a fuckin’ break, man.

Now, given recent events, you would think the GOP would practically strut down this gift-wrapped, candy-coated, lovingly-dipped-in-nectar-and-ambrosia off-ramp that appeared magically before them.

Honestly, it seemed unfair to me, that, having milked that pissant proto-fascist for three Supreme Court justices and a massive tax cut for their oligarch masters, the Republican Party was gifted such a perfect opportunity to wash their hands of him forever. He committed an act of unforgivable treason. They were free to walk away, squeaky clean, righteously indignant even.

But I guess when the moment actually comes, and you’re staring in disbelief at the thrift shop clerk who isn’t willing to go above a buck fifty for your sweaty, mayonnaise-stained death cult robes, it’s hard to let go.

Sure, you lost both houses of Congress and the White House, and transformed into an authentic 21st century American Nazi in the process, but remember that summer you spent chanting “lock her up” alongside your fellow rage-warped white mediocrities? It was like Grease, only with less singing and also everybody was a racist loser.

So instead of letting the fever break, the Texas state Republican Party incorporated a QAnon slogan into their official branding.

The Hawaiian sub-sect of Cult45 elevated a “comicsgate” creep to the position of vice chairman, only to be caught off guard somehow when he used official party social media accounts to pimp Q trash.

In Arizona, Kelli Ward’s band of turd-gargling maniacs censured Cindy McCain, Jeff Flake, and Governor Doug Ducey for the high crime of refusing to help overthrow the United States government for a totalitarian game show host.

Unwilling to be out-crazied, the Oregon GOP proclaimed, via barely-legible feces smears on their meth dealer’s living room wall, that the Capitol riot was a “false flag” operation, designed to make Hairplug Himmler and his Legion of Losers look bad, as though any assistance is required on that particular front.

I suppose it shouldn’t surprise anyone that a party/cult/malodorous wad of freaks so devoted to enshrining bullshit as gospel would also require a few false idols to worship, and Tom Cotton and Madison Cawthorn certainly haven’t been shy about stealing whatever valor is necessary to hoover up the slavering throng’s deranged adulation.

...
the vanquished Velveeta Vulgarian briefly toyed with the idea of starting a third party, a No Willards Allowed death cult of his very own,

but then he remembered that half the jurors in his pending impeachment trial are members of the party he was attempting to threaten.

(The threats will resume promptly after acquittal, of course, but I think we can throw in the towel on the GOP learning that lesson by now.)

@b.c. - Such a fun blog!... I almost spit up my coffee. Thanks for the link to it.

My pleasure A.B. Every once in awhile I may try to present linked stories in paragraph form, but my efforts PALE in comparison to this guy's ability to combine biting sarcasm, irony, and humor with SPOT ON and WELL INFORMED insight and observation into QUITE odious political right-wingery and quackery.

Imo it's sheer GENIUS. So is Seth Meyers.

Take a look at tonight's "A Closer Look" in which he observes how Republicans manage to empower themselves and STAY empowered via a (Jim Crow like) government structure, or what Seth says ISN'T a normal democracy, in a system that allows for rule by a party that hasn't won the popular vote but ONCE in THIRTY TWO fkn years.

Said Seth (at about the 8:30 minute mark) and after observing the popularity of Biden's proposals and that Trump NEVER cracked above a 50% approval rate, "If we we had an actual DEMOCRACY with a level playing field, Republicans would wield power as often as the Jets make the playoffs."

IN OTHER NEWS, M. T. Greene apparently took to the House floor today to issue a half-a, lame baked claim that QAnon "MADE her believe things" that weren't true. Marjorie Taylor Greene says she endorsed assassinating Democrats and questioned whether 9/11 happened because QAnon made her 'believe things that weren't true'.

That's the cop-out they're using, after which House Republicans actually gave this hate spewing crackpot who endorsed EXECUTING Democrats and supported a Capitol INSURRECTION to overthrow a presidential election, a STANDING OVATION, once again proving themselves to be the unconscionably spineless b------------ we KNEW they were.

NEWSFLASH: QAnon didn't "make you" do s--------. QAnon gave you PERMISSION to believe things YOU WANTED to believe were true. ...foh.
