I guess it's time to point out that some folks are hijacking the thread. It's not that hard to start a new one, really. You could call it "America Pollutes" or "Brits are Hypocrites" or whatever suits your fancy, but THIS thread is about something good you did today, please!

I didn't take any digs at anyone America, Chinese, Indian or otherwise today :)
I also looked after my sister's little boy and while she was out I organised her kitchen for her, it looks lovely but she won't be able to find anything for three months.

I am overweight which doesn't help the vehicles gas mileage but I intend to lose weight.
Having a large, thick penis doesn't make you fat.

I ate lunch with my workers today instead of driving 10 kilometers and paying for restuarant food. I like to do it because it is a small way to keep us connected.[/quote] How sweet of you to mingle with the little people.

Absolutely! SHE married the guy, and YOU want her to be happy.

I never said I want her to be happy, not that I DON'T want her to be, per se, it's just that it's not my decision one way ou t'other, but she did raise me to do the right thing. So I done my job, right? Think I'm a bit conflicted here?

Oooooh, Claire! I love your talons!

But speaking of BRITISH.... the British SUVs (Landrovers) are waaaaaaay behind environmentally.

I love those cars, but I traded in my gas guzzling BRITISH Landrover for a more environmentally correct AMERICAN SUV (Saturn Vue) -- and I am impatiently waiting for Landrover to get their act together environmentally so I can go BACK to having a Landrover cuz I love those cars.... but I will not drive one right now.

I don't like Landrover, too much plastic in their interior. And they don't look rather good too, I guess they have missed the one or other trend in automobile design. I guess the design lines work like those of Phantoms and Thunderbolts: A brick can fly. If it has enough power.

I guess you missed the point where the whole of Europe is still a cleaner continent then your entire country.

So they say it in the usual media, especially the European media seem a little biased when it comes to comparing environmental facts of the US and Europe. "Cheap" gas, big block engines and all that. They always miss the point of initiatives that radiate from the people in private, without legislative action preceding.

Let's put it this way: she is your mother. If you can do something that helps her be happier (whether it's the card itself, the fact that she sees you are doing what she raised you to do, or a momentary lull in your overt distaste for her choice in men), you will most likely feel better yourself.

As far as being conflicted, I don't know your history or hers, but you seem to understand that in the end you are responsible for your own happiness (just as ultimately she is responsible for hers). If you have a choice, why choose to do things or feel in ways that make you unhappy?

Something good I've done today: restrained myself from yelling at someone in front of an audience when they annoyed me.

What pisses me off are 4x4 drivers. No need for those gas guzzlers, just arrogant pricks who drive them. I walk everywhere I need to go, or get public transport.

Lazy fat arseholes piss me off.

public transportation? you travel with the common folk? how humble of you

I've always admired those. They're really cool.

They not only are cool, they drive cool too. Acceleration, stability and smoothness match those of my mustang, but the electronic driving aids make the handling a lot easier actually, so you can really relax now during the driving. Earn yourself $17,000 incentive compensation, and use those as first instalment.
