LMAO....kinda early to start calling the '12 cycle...ya think??

Ronald Reagan had a 35% approval rating in January 1983 and Slick Willie was at 38% in mid 93, so I would take Campbell Brown's 'analysis' with a grain of salt (and shot of tequila). It is waaaaaayyyy to early in the game to entertain that kind of prognostication.

I doubt Obama will be a one-term president. The economy sucks at present. Therefore it will likely get better at some point. And the public will thank him for improving things. Regardless of what he actually did.

If it doesn't, Obama and the press will blame Bush, or both Bushes, or both Bushes and Reagan thrown in. And the public might ignore the economy and re-elect him. Unless the GOP gets its collective head out of its ass and finds someone to run who actually represents a contrast to Obama.

If it does improve, Obama & Co, will gladly take all credit and the news media will endorse that opinion. And the American public will ignore the now even higher costs of the federal govt and the enhanced massive debt for their kids to pay off.

Of course, it should be pointed out the President does NOT run the economy. Never has. But congressional meddling with tax codes and regulations can affect business overall.

Personally I'm not sanguine things will get significantly better.

Every president should only have one term. They spend the first two years trying to learn and do their job and then the next two years running for re-election. With only one term, they may try to do their job for 4 years.

I'd be more supportive of one 6-year term, as opposed to two (potential) terms of 4 years apiece. In 6 years, someone can get an agenda going and actually accomplish some things while simultaneously not being bogged down with re-election efforts.

I'm not sure what they have to offer as an alternative. Right now they are just The Party of No. The tax cut duct tape has been played out and helped to enhance the deficit which when they were in power preached the theory that 'deficits don't matter'.

I've read over the clips and posts of the He/She/and Holier Than The Rest of Us It before dismissing her totally. I'm not an Obama worshiper, however, she's never posted anything positive about Obama (at least, since he was elected). She is on the side of those selfish people who do not contribute anything positive (despite Flashy's defense), but only posts "the sky is falling" rants.....

He/She/It or the right winged conglomerate known here as "Trinity" (I've read suggestions of all) didn't post anything positive about Obama before the election. He/she/It/They were proposing that Hillary supporters should vote for McCain.

I tend to agree, PM...presidents should serve a single six-year term.

A more significant change would be the imposition of term limits on legislators. The fact that there are people who have been in Congress for 20, 30, or even more years is beyond preposterous.

Trinity,

Do you ever get tired of being wrong?

You had 8 years of Bush to constantly be wrong, now you are continuing your streak with Obama?

I guess you can't teach an old dog new tricks.

Here are some other things you can be wrong on

- Weapons of Mass destruction in Iraq
- Iraq's link to Osama Bin Laden and 9/11
- Tax cuts for the richest 1% will be good for everyone
- Social Security investing in the stock market
- Creationism in Public Schools
- Abstinence only sex education

And you would not listen to the voices of experienced elders?

Well, maybe you are a young snot.

I never supported George Bush and I am not a Republican.

Amazing that someone can look into the mirror and not recognize one's self. It's an unusual syndrome.

This clip is CNN discussing Obama's own words and his press secretary's comments on Obama's statement.

The only syndrome going on is your own. Get mad at Obama. He is the one putting it out there about being a one term president. He is the one with the unpopular policies. He is the one who's approval rating is going down in the polls. Obama is the one you need to direct your "pathetic" words at.

And you're the one trying to spin it into something bigger than it should be because you don't like the guy. Playing stupid in an attempt to appear open minded is a specialty of yours around here. Don't think nobody knows your true intentions.

I'm not mad at Obama. He's only just begun.

You on the other hand, have rattled on and on like an idiot for a spell. A lack of substance, no forthcoming positive views, and only negative responses to obvious questions, includung the one about not recognizing yourself when you look in the mirror.

And that marvelous right wing magic trick of asking a question while ignoring the initially asked question.

You betcha.
