Maybe not the best place to post this I'll move it if necessary.

Dear Customer Who Stuck Up For His Little Brother - The Huffington Post

I've actually seen a similiar situation in the store I work at as well. Makes you wonder just how many parents try to forcibly make their children adhere to gender roles they feel are right.

Edit: yes just realized I misspelled the title. Damn you kindle auto correct lol

I agree, dad should be ashamed of himself.

It made me cry. At least that kid has a great brother but I couldn't help but worry about what would happen to the kid if the brother leaves home for college, leaving him at home with the dad for 2-5 years without someone to stand up for him.

My uncle had twins 2 years ago and has said if his son acts anyway "girlie" he'd fix that problem. I probably didn't help matters by saying if he touched my cousin for living like he wants I'd break his arm... lol

That's just tragic. Althou it is good to see that the younger boy (the one the abuse was aimed at) didn't back down; and what else can you say about such a wonderful older brother.

Stories like this make me more and MORE grateful for the wonderful parents that I had who didn't even blink when I asked for Barbies and Sylvanian Families...

I love this story. Like everyone else, there's that cynical voice in me that informs me that this is the exception, not the rule, but I'd like to think that being more accepting of people who buck the gender and sexual norms has greater traction with the younger generations and is a value that the rest of us can be proud of instilling in them. Especially considering what a history of gender stereotyping and homophobia the video-gaming community has had, it's great to hear stories like this.

This is one of those stories which everyone would like to be true but it seems like an urban legend to me (too good to be true, some vague facts or ones which don't ring true, etc). It's been making the rounds online so I'm waiting for someone to confirm or deny it.

Than you for this post. Its all at once heartbreaking and uplifting. It is always nice to see someone stick up for another, especially in the face of an overbearing, ignorant parent.

Somehow I once accidentally added a misspelling to the suggestion list. I don't remember what it was but it was a really common word, so it kept suggesting it and I got so annoyed by it that I had to manually erase it from the "dictionary."

Terrific story. Thank you for sharing it with us. If people in general, and parents in particular could just be more accepting, think how much better this world would be.

Petite, I had the same issue as you. I do remember the word though. It was "would". I assume I must have done similar as you. The auto correct would try substituting "wpukd"

I hope this story is true, and not an urban legend.

The author of the story said it happened to her personally and she lists her occupation as a manager of a retail store.
