]'Health care is a decision between doctor and patient'. :18: That is exactly right in socialist Canada, the UK or Japan. But oh my GOD is that the most ill-informed thing ever said if you are referring to the United States.
That statement is only true for the filthy rich, every one else has to worry about WHO is going to pay for it. Every hospital has a cashier and most sit IN FRONT of the doctors that are there to help you.
I am by no means filthy rich, but have good health insurance. I have never been stopped by a doctor's office "cashier" asking about payment. The few times I have been in the hospital, I check in with the receptionist, my insurance info is on file, and on the rare occasion there is a copay, I get a bill in the mail about a month later.
So it is a complete LIE to say health care is a decision between doctor and patient. In fact EVERY medical office in the US wants to know you intend to pay BEFORE you even sniff the examination room.
Let's clarify. If a doctor is not getting paid (either directly or by insurance) he (or she) isn't your doctor. I'm sorry, but you don't even get to the stage of healthcare decisions without being able to compensate your doctor in some way. No professional can survive by providing services for free. They are running a business. Doctors can choose to only take patients that can pay for their services, believe it or not! Just like a car repair man, a dentist, a tailor, a dry cleaner, even, GASP private schools. So, there is no crime in that. Remember, if doctors never got paid, we would have no doctors.
It's too bad all those 'libs' in Canada, UK and Japan all live longer and laugh at you and your ignorance.
]And that is it isn't it? Blithefully unconcerned about the millions who have no insurance or very little. What of them?
