Osama Bin Laden is Dead

I'm sorry? I wasn't sure you had any respect for American "justice" to begin with.

And please, keep in mind that my post derided, not applauded, its presence on the (inter)national scene. No one is less fond of grave dancing/pissing than myself; read through my history if you have any doubts in that regard.

My initial response to ObL's passing was a muted sort of relief, certainly nothing more nor less. Though I find the chest-beating understandable, I hardly find it laudable. It's one of our more lamentable sort of nationalistic reflexes: certainly one of our least attractive ones on the broader (international) stage.

And yeah, Max: I think New End's found a new (and hopefully temporary) voice needs to be recognized and called out as such. That retched piece of humanity was on my ignore list too long as it is...
Would you care to tell where you've come up with the idea I was responding to YOUR post? I haven't even read YOUR post.My point was a general one based on the tv and newspaper coverage that I've seen coming out of America.

The Twitter generation asks, "Who is Osama bin Laden?" Seriously.

The kids are not all right - Ezra Klein - The Washington Post
I'm continually astonished by the appalling ignorance and superficiality of upcoming generations.

My favorite of those 'tweets': Who is Osama Bin Laden? Is he in a band aswell? :/ x henryfurberr

Never mind the ignorance, wouldn't it be just as easy to do a quick Google search as post a tweet?

We are so doomed. :rolleyes2:

Ditto.

But, Max, that's too much like, you know, homework.

Ditto.

There are times that I hear inspiring stories that make me proud, and then inevitably something like this comes along and I lose my faith in humanity all over again. :irked:

I just hope that the responses to that guy's "tweet" were unrelentingly scathing and not just "Dude, he's like some guy in Switzerland or something that leaked the fifth Twilight book or something so now she's not writing it anymore." (And hey, that's the right length for a tweet, too.)

Grrr...

Sarah Palin is really bugging me today. I just saw her latest tweet about the administration's decision not to release the bin Laden photos. This constant mean-spiritedness by Palin and Limbaugh and Michelle Malkin and the rest is so cheap & demoralizing -- the constant drip-drip-drip of insults and malice never ends.

They want to play both sides of the fence. Did they not think there was going to be some kind of big pay back sooner or later for their unloyality to everyone. OBL was doing the same to us for our stabbing him in the back. We used him, then tried to kill him, we got 9-11, we got OBL, now pakistan is really going to get their's.

Hopefully they won't get one dollar from us. Of course with the morans we have in charge, just love to give our borrowed money to everyone. We don't even know who runs the damn country, neither do they.

Pakistan= sack of shit, just like all their medical doctors we have in our VA clinics that could care less about any human life. Ask your vet if you think that's untrue.

Pierced1953 - I think they really are trying to play both sides. Back when I travelled to the Middle East, we had a talk with some people in a restaurant when servers realized we were from the United States. Without remembering the exact words someone said, a comment was made by one of the natives which implies that among their people there are promises one makes when dealing with outsiders and others you make when dealing with your own people. On the surface it doesn't sound like much, but there may be some more truth to it when trying to explain some of the actions of certain people.

VB - I spent 3yrs in security [military] during the late 60's to 71. I espically got to see that our own country is not much different of what you said. I guess that's why many can tell I have my differences with my own country. I spent most of my time in Asian [viet nam era],[was there when Saigon fell to the north], central and south america [26 months] and was security for many meetings between countries leaders/advisors. I found out that all promises were useless though I found S VN to be pretty stand upish. It's to bad innocent people have to pay for all the dishonesty.

In this case with pakistan they played us for big time money never considering the end results. Now it's to late and the taliban won't forgive them like this country will. Even with OBL gone they will make their mark. Things all over the middle east will get worse because of this hiding OBL in their country. No matter how long the US stays in both those wars things will never change. Pakistan and Iran will never stop provoking trouble. Their leaders are probably worse than the leader of Syria, and of course the US, UK and Russia are all on the same level. Anything for a buck.

As mentioned elsewhere: Osama is still dead.

It's still unverified reports from the tossers that said that Iraq had WMDs, & Saddam was in league with Al Qaeda.

I'm wondering why none of his wives have made a public statement yet - they're not being held as terrorists - what's happening to them - are they being programmed.

Whatever happened to the burden of proof? It's just as likely that the US have him in some hidey hole.

It seems odd that the durka, durka, king didn't even arm himself when a helicopter hit his roof, then landed in his yard, then an assault team of SEALS took 15 MINUTES to get to where he was, letting off stun grenades, & shooting people as they went on.

Even more shocking is the admission that one SEAL held back 2 women, as he thought that they might be carrying suicide belts. I've never heard of holding people back as a defence to body explosives:wink:

I don't think that we'll ever know the true story. Osama probably thought he was just being moved to the next CIA safe house!
