I am watching Turner Classic Movies and "Gone with the Wind" is on as part of their pre-oscar movie festival. Watching Scarlett O'Hara blaze a trail of destruction more successful than anything Sherman could have accomplished, makes me wonder. Could she have been as successful if she werent well off and absolutely stunning?

What Oscar winners are your favorites and why?

I know this is terrible, but I am so glad she won the nomination instead of Miss Beyond-me.

ME TOO!! Don't get me wrong, I love me some Beyonce, but Jen was much better in the movie and has thus far been the more gracious and grateful one.

    P.S.

I know Jen didn't actually win the Oscar, yet, but c'mon ... it's pretty obvious she is.

    Think I'll watch the basketball game....'cause "I cani't birth no babies!":biggrin1:
...And besides that damn Captian Red Butler use to beat my ass when he found out me and Mandingo was fuckin Miss Scarlett too.:biggrin1: :biggrin1: :biggrin1: You think he was jealousy or something:confused:
    And Ashley had a little dick:biggrin1: :biggrin1: :biggrin1: That's why Scarlett didn't want him.
But, frankly my dear, I don't give a damn because tomorrow is another day.
But love that music to Gone With Wind.
Got lots of Oscar winner favorites because they won an Oscar:biggrin1:
Mr. Smith Goes To Washington, Citizen Kane....their themes never seem to
loose their flavor to reflect of life then and now.
I do want to see the results for this year.
    Enjoy!!!

My favorite actress in GWTW was Hattie McDaniel.

In another Oscar worthy movie my favorite Pepsi-sprayed-all-over-the-folks-in-the-next-row scene was when Lloyd drove the minibike into Aspen with Harry behind him with frozen snot on his face.

...I know...I'll think about it tomorrow, at Tara...after all, tomorrow is another day!

Still my favorite movie in the world!

Hell Yeah! I couldn't believe that.

To be fair, though, I will say it was somewhat of a tough decision.

Glory, absolutely breaks my heart everytime I watch it.

The_Shawshank_Redemption was one of the most moving stories of hope I've ever seen. Fucking travesty that the "cute" film, Forrest Gump, cleaned up at the oscars that year.

FFS! Was anyone truly impacted in any way by having seen Forrest Gump? Please.

My absolute favorite Oscar winning movie is Driving Miss Daisy! It and The Color Purple (I know it didn't win) never fail to make me cry at the end, and I never get tired of watching them. I've probably watched both of them hundreds of times.

    Other favorite winners include:

    An American in Paris
    The Godfather
    The Silence of the Lambs
    Forrest Gump
    American Beauty
