I also enjoyed watching the show and look forward to future seasons (as the show was based on the first book in the Alex Rider series of which there are several), however the way they chose to tell the story in reverse made it rather confusing at times. (Hope that isn't too much of a spoiler). Seeing George Sear in a very different role from his part in Love, Victor also gave me some appreciation for his range as an actor. The story-line did seem to borrow heavily from The Shining & Inception at times locating Point Blanc in a remote mountain settings. They even seemed to mimic the look of Kubrick's Shining sets for the Point Blanc sets. That made it slightly less original for me. In general though the British really do spy shows well; Alex Ryder and London Spy made for great television.
The show sort of left Alex's sexuality open for debate I thought. In his non-spy life his best friend is always trying to set him up with the hottest girl in school, but he never seems particularly interested and just sort of goes through the motions of pretending to be excited about dating her. His spy duties always conveniently get in the way of his home life or potential relationships. Also the way he rejects one of the girls at Point Blanc made me suspect he might be gay.
