Michael Flynn removed himself from his position by committing crimes. He even pleaded guilty.
Meeting with a Russian ambassador isn't a crime... I know you'd LOVE to make talking to any Russian illegal, but our nation hasn't gone full-Russophobe quite yet. Flynn had every right to ask the Russian ambassador to not to escalate tensions after the outgoing Obama administration imposed sanctions... everything Flynn did in regards to his meetings with Kislyak were entirely lawful. Discussions of easing sanctions are also 100% lawful... as was attempting to set up a video conference between Trump and Putin.
How and why he lied about Kislyak is anyone's guess... I suppose we won't know until the Flynn/Kislyak transcripts are released (if ever).
Flynn also got in trouble by attempting to influence the extradition of the suspected Turkish coup organizer... Gullen.
There is strong evidence that Gullen did
indeed foment the thwarted coup attempting to remove Erdogan from power. At the very least, an extradition order should have been at least considered... Flynn was pushing for further consideration and THAT was what got him in trouble. How dare our NSD push for the extradition of a suspected leader of a bloody coup right?
Suspected leaders of bloody coups should all be protected as long as they align with the "values" of the U.S. right? Especially if that suspected coup leader is a CIA asset...
I don't think anyone has ever been charged with being an agent of a foreign government by lobbying on behalf of the Turkish government... Turkey is 100% a NATO ally and one of NATO's largest & most capable militaries.
The problems with Turkey relate to Turkey buying SUPERIOR Russian missile defense systems and the U.S. acting like a jilted lover over the weapons sale. Buying Russian missile defense systems is grounds for the CIA fomenting a coup and removing a sovereign nations' leadership right?
It's all a crock of shit. Flynn didn't do SHIT wrong. Pushing for that mutherfucker Gullen's extradition was the RIGHT thing to do.
Communicating with the Russian ambassador to try and improve U.S.- Russia relations was the RIGHT thing to do.
Criminalizing those actions is fucking counterproductive to peace and stability... making Turkey into our enemy is NOT in the best interests of the U.S.... ceasing all communication with Russia is a HORRIBLE idea.
The ramifications of pushing Turkey into becoming our enemy will be disastrous for American security... pushing Russia further and further away from the U.S. can only hurt us in the long run.
Have you ever heard of diplomacy and peace? Hmm seems like those two words don't mean anything to you...
The absence of diplomacy and peace is WAR... is there something about this process that you don't understand?
