I do see a fair amount of guys in their 30s being pretty fit.
I also qualify for the over 40 group, which is definitely different. I'd say 80% of the guys I know personally over 40 are not very fit at all. And the other 20% keep me inspired and motivated to never quit!

I also qualify for over 40 and see the same thing...wish more guys looked like buzzrider7!

This is what I also believe. I couldn't have said it any better.

I like your pics buzzrider7 and am jealous of your abs of steel. :notworthy:

I don't think the OP was off at all. We are actually in an elite group here, where the majority of guys here really care about their bodies.

Outside, in the real world, so many people really let themselves go starting in their late 20's, and by the time they're 30+, they are almost unrecognizable. :frown1:

I have found this to be, quite sadly, quite true.

For certain groups of people, staying active is a lifestyle thing. You do it; you enjoy it; you look fit well into old age. Unfortunately, it seems that the prevailing North American trend (I can only speak for what I know) is to stop being active when you enter the working world full-time. On come the pounds.

Of course, there's nothing wrong with carrying some weight. What makes me sad is how many people look unhealthy out there, and that it begins quite early.

I went to the gym regularly throughout college and then fell off for a few years. By mid 30's I was going every day. For me, it's a life-style that I would never want to give up. I'm 50 and my avatar is me. My pop is 80 and I have gotten him to go to the gym as well.

I think it may be worse than that. From what I see, an awful lot of kids start to let themselves go in their teens but can coast for a while on their youth. By the time they hit their mid-twenties the result of their neglect becomes apparent. I live in a beach town. The number of young people with bad eating, exercise and general health habits can be shocking.

To be quite honest....LOTS of HS and 20 yr olds these days are the ones outta shape. Some so skinny, I dunno how they lift a pencil to write. lol Really not that many inbetween where I live...either they are fit or they aren't. The 30 to 50+ crowd in the OC seem to have it going on. Then again....if you're near the beach, you're a bit more motivated it seems.

I remember going to a 25th class reunion and being in shock at all the people who left themselves go. I was blessed with skinny genes but I hit the gym regularly. I want to stay as healthy as I can for as long as I can and that doesn't happen by being a couch potato. I tried playing roller hockey on the over 35 league but was bored. I now play with the under 35 crowd. And at 47, I can still outskate many of them. My son is 13 and I can still outrun him so I am good for now.

There are some incredibly fit guys on here who are in their 30's and higher. There are also lots of fit guys in my area too. It takes hard work looking like that.

I started working out in my early 30's and did let myself go for a couple of years. It's amazing how much older people looked when they put on those extra pounds too. I'm now in my early 40's and I have to say I look better now than ever.

I'm about....40..... ish ........
Work out 6 or 7 days a week, otherwise I'd go ape-shit .
It's the first time in my life that I can say I'm happy with how I look..... kinda.... sorta .... almost .
Part of my motivation is my hottie. 30 year old girlfriend with the serious sex drive Haha!
She likes what she sees.... so...

I'm 50 and you can judge for yourself my fitness from my pics.
I agree with those on here who commented on fitness being a lifestyle; once you get in the habit of working out 4-5 days a week you really miss it when you fall out of that pattern. I also find that diet makes a huge difference; I try to stay on the vegan side of things , although I do love some meat every now and then. The key for me, in addition to working out, is staying thin/lean which means a diet mostly of fruit, veggies, and whole grains, with meat and fish only occasionally.
