Okay, shoot.
1. The shower room has four open shower heads on one wall, no dividers or curtains. And four stalls on the opposite wall with dividers and curtains. There is one naked guy using the open showers, first head as you enter. And one stall is in use, curtain drawn closed directly opposite him. There are towel hooks at each stall. Hooks for open showers are in adjacent drying area. Which would you use today?
Depending upon how shy I'm feeling today, or what sort of vibe I got from the gym / locker room / guy showering, I'd either use one of the open shower heads, at least one apart from the guy currently showering, or one of the stalls. (Seriously, I've belonged to gyms that I was comfortable in, and gyms that were known to be 'meat markets' where they guys were always checking each other out and either primping or obviously judging. In the latter, I'd be more inclined to use the stalls. Especially these days.)
2. You are visiting a new gym. You just had a tough workout and discover on the way to showers this locker room has a large whirl pool. It seats eight. It looks clean. Naked use only. There is one old guy using it presently. You have time. Would you shower and go in?
Hell, nowadays I'm probably the old guy who is sitting in it. In my younger days, it'd depend, again, upon the vibe I got from the guy in the whirlpool and the gym / locker room itself. Speaking from the old guy's perspective: I don't give a damn whether you come in or not. If you do, I'm probably going to give your body the once-over look, and think that I wish I still had the body I had when I was twenty (not that I'd ever want to be twenty again.) After that? Well, if you're the talkative type, I'm happy for good conversation, assuming you're not an idiot. Else, I've no problems just sitting quietly and enjoying the whirlpool.
(Yeah, I'm bisexual. It doesn't mean that I slobber, slaver, and drool over every guy in the locker room. There's this thing called manners, for chrissake....)
3. You need to piss and shower. The bank of urinals is near showers directly opposite wall with towel hooks. Do you pee first then return to locker get undressed and head to showers, or do you strip for showers, put towel on hook and take a naked pit stop to piss befote entering showers?
If the urinals are between the door and the lockers, I piss, then strip, then shower. If they're on the way to the showers, I strip, then piss, then shower. Given that I'm not the well-built, good-looking young man I used to be, anymore, I'll probably keep the towel wrapped around me, unless I'm pissing or actually in the shower. Nobody said you have to strut through all the rooms naked with said towel over your shoulder.
When first going naked in a public setting, like a locker room, it's easy to feel as if all eyes are upon you. Thing is, you quickly get to understand that they aren't. Very few, if any, people in the locker room, showers, or head are at all interested in your dick or ass, and those who are...well, if they can't show manners and common courtesy and respect, (un)fuck 'em. They're hardly going to assault you, in the first place, and it's easy enough to make sure they know that their leering and/or creepy behavior isn't at all welcome.
