"Overcompensating" Discussion - SPOILERS

"Overcompensating" is an eight-episode series that is available on Amazon Prime Video. It stars Benito Skinner, Wally Baram, Mary Beth Barone, Adam DiMarco, and Lukas Gage, among other well-known and lesser-well-known people. The premise of the series revolves around a freshman university student named Benny who is closeted and who passes as a straight broski athlete, a freshman student named Carmen who befriends Benny, and Grace and Peter, two students who are seniors in a relationship with each other. There are other characters who interact with these four in varying intensity and purpose.

You may have heard about this series, and you may have watched it already. It may be on your must-watch list. I'm not here to spoil anything outright, but I would like to engage in discussion about the characters, setting, situations, and episodes. I haven't found any other thread discussing this show, so let's go!

Just came here to say I find Rish Shah ("Miles") hot as all hell, as well as Benito. This show was refreshingly fun after having just seen the harder-hitting Invisible Boys not long beforehand, and I'm really hoping we'll get a season 2.

(Do we have spoiler tag functions on LPSG btw? Never needed them before hahaha)

Oh my gravy, YES! Those boys are delightful eye candy!

There's certainly room for at least a second season. The last scene was a cliffhanger, so that's a great jumping-off point.

The characters in the show were SO fun! The wild roommates, the F&G girls and guys during the pledging, the parents ... the entire ensemble was hilarious. I had no idea which way the plot would go at any time. Plus, it was fun to see some of the White Lotus actors appearing in this.

I will say I half-expected that Miles would turn out to be "straight" (at least for now!) but it was not any less heartbreaking -and then later hilariously cringe-inducing- watching Benny's deal with that...

(Incidentally am I the only one who feels that Benito looks kinda like a younger Cade Maddox? )
