J.Lo too. She was actually ranked 15 on VH1's 200 greatest pop culture icons and what does she have to her name?? A couple of bad movies and a few forgettable songs. She isnt even that attractive. :-/

Don't even get me started on this list of the 200 greatest pop culture icons on VH1. It was an absolute joke. They ranked Charlie Chaplin and Albert Einstein in the 150-100 range, which is already a joke. They ranked the cast of friends above THE BEATLES. THE BEATLES, people. J.Lo was ranked at 15 and Britney Spears at 20. Britney Spears?? OH, and they ranked Madonna above Michael Jackson. Michael Jackson, the king of Pop... who's bizarre behavior and music defined the culture over 2 decades. Madonna was 8, Michael was 10. *sigh* Some really important people/characters they left off the list completely:

Bob Hope, Jerry Lewis, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., Gary Coleman, Alf, Rodney Dangerfield, George Carlin (who's comedy has spanned 4 decades!!), The Urkel kid, Steve McQueen, Tim Burton, Anything from the Rocky Horror Picture Show, Stan Lee.

I could go on and on. Anyway, the point is that VH1 is full of idiots.

P.S- Oprah was the greatest pop culture Icon ever. She may be a rich, powerful black woman... but i don't agree that she is the greatest.

[/quote]     Julia Roberts was the first person to come to mind for me. I thought Gigantikok had saved me the trouble of pointing out the obvious, but now instead I feel compelled to second him. I don't find her at all attractive, but I don't think it's her looks that are so repellent (though they don't help).  It's her personality, at least on screen. My usual guess on the horrid subject is that she appeals to a lot of the worst, least attractive women, not most guys. She seems much older than her supposed age, perhaps because of the square movies she picks. She's so loud, and so 2-D. Is she still estranged from her more interesting older brother Eric? Who cares? He is the only star I've ever heard blame his career problems on a past "marijuana addiction". How deranged is the state of your actual personal life if that's your excuse? "I was a slave to the 'kind'", "I was hooked on hydroponics", "I sold my car to buy a bigger bong". Anyway, Javier can check out my "hot" picks in the "Et Cetera Et Cetera" section ("Who you think is hot") and rip them a new one if he wants. Julia's made so much money and had such exposure for so long that I don't feel mean at all asking "What's wrong with people?!".
    Other overrated folks I find dull or obnoxious include Lucy Liu and Pam Anderson. Leah Lail was the only true hottie on VIP, and she was kept in a very minor role, like Cinderella by her wicked step-sisters.

"The Strong Female with a Vulnerable side". It's the same fucking part she plays over and over. I tend to like performers with versatility... like Jude Law, Johnny Dep, Jim Carrey. They diversify, they challenge themselves, they have talent. Julia is just an ugly biotch who got really lucky.

I also don't like some of the public comments she makes. It makes her look rude and obnoxious. Anyone who says, "If i was one of Bush's daughters, I'd be a drunk too" to the press publicly is a mean bitch. I don't care what side of the political spectrum you are on, that's just plain fucking rude. Plus, alot of actors claim she's a diva, a pain in the ass, and very difficult to work with. Makes me wonder why the hell she is where she is.

IMHO, Julia Roberts can act, but is she really a Pretty Woman? Hell, no. That long horsey face and big mouth works better on her brother's face. At times, he can look quite hot, but I have never seen her look anything but what I consider 'homely'.

Glad to see that this topic has sparked a flame in so many people. I do have to agree with you guys about the VH1 200 Greatest Pop Idols poll. That was complete lunacy. How can you rank fly by night singers/actors above classis greats like Stevie Wonder, Micheal and real influencial people. But what can you say. As far as Beyonce' goes, a year and a half ago I would totally agree, but now that she's been on hiatus I like her alot more. More stars need to realize this. Being in my face all of the time will only make me hate you. However, if you take a few years off between appearances, like Janet, you will last ALOT longer.

I beg to differ, Brad Pitt is one of the few Hollywood leading men with some versatility and cajones. He's willing to accept parts that would scare off other actors. Ever see "7 years in Tibet" or "Snatch"? Plays two polar oppositte characters. THAT is real acting. I think, if anything, Tom Cruise is overrated. He's not as good an actor, and usually just plays the "hero" or "hero that runs".

Hm, same part over and over....i would hardly say so....Erin Brockovich...strong and independant....Pretty Woman, strong and well....slutty...(me likey)....Nottin Hill, romantic movie, so theres no real character there...she has done comedy, drama, action, thrillers, and yes, her share of vulnerable but independant movies. But for real, only few actors are exempted from a fate of typecasting. Only the really big ones can escape that, and indeed Johnny Depp has done so very well...Jim Carrey HARDLY!!...

And well, people claim a lot. I am not to say she is a great person, but i also dont think i have the inside info on her being a 'bitch'...
