Even I, a champion of ebooks, check out paper books from the public library at a great rate, around three dozen a month. I choose them by skimming excerpts online.

But I have a growing library on .pdf as well, and not only the ones I have edited! Many sites offer free ebooks, especially non-fiction.

I'll take a real book over an electronic one any day. They fit in your pocket, don't need recharging, and if I loose it I'm only out a few bucks (or $0.25 if I got it at a garage sale). In addition, I can read it when the plane is taking off and landing. Plus, I love the smell of an old book.

I like books for their design and content, of course, but what I like the most is spending money on things and being happy living in a capitalism.

Am I the only one having problems reading books online?
I really hate reading online. Ok, newspapers are one thing, but reading a whole book? You can find a book as a PDF file, but it`s quite expensive to download the whole book here.
And I miss the sound when you turn the page!
I agree!

e-books are a blessing for those disabled people who for whatever reason can't get to a bookstore or dislike the wait when ordering online ... a friend bought one for her mother this Christmas, it was so rewarding to see the Woman's eyes light up over it.

I prefer a real book over ebooks, but I do like reading on the iPad. It's good being able to adjust the font size, search for words or phrases, look up word meanings and for traveling I have a big library of titles. I never buy a newspaper anymore. Plus the device does a whole lot more than just substitute for a book.

Marvel Comics are great on the iPad!

I have a hard time reading a book or something because of the screen. I can read articles and what not, but when it comes to a real book I just can't do it. A friend of mine has a Kindle, and you can actually read on those things because it is good for the eyes. It actually feels like you're reading a real piece of paper.

Well I am not a fan of the E- Book. In New York it is a craze where many many people just want to look cool on the train, walking down the street or just about anywrere holding on of those things.

I cant remember seeing so many people reading before. Now it is as if they have invented a new sport or something. I guess I am old fashoned, for now give me my books on paper.

My porn can be electronic; but not my text books, (LOL)

Pota(y)to/pota(h)to.

Page turning soothes me and I can flip to the next page faster than the e-readers reload them.
Point- Paper.

E-books never have a shadow in the crease the way real books do so there's no readjusting for the best light to hit the page on each side of the book. (cracked book spines drive me apeshit)
Point- E-reader.

I love full bookshelves for the way you can learn about a persons interests and personality from perusing the titles. It invites conversation and commonality. Try that on someone else's e-reader and you're inviting a cuff to the head. It's invasive.
Point- Paper.

If I want to read some smut or am driven by curiosity to read something I'd be embarrassed to be seen reading like the Twilight series... (Yup, just as lame as the films with the only perks being not having to look at Robert Patinson and Jacob grows to nearly 7' tall which I don't see Taylor Lautner pulling off) *embarrassed cough*
Point- E-reader.

Craploads of FREE classics.
Point- E-reader.

My preference will always be for paper but if an e-book suits my needs better in a particular instance then that's what I'll use.
