Americans are the most independent minded people on the planet. It is in our DNA. We will not be subject to the whims of the rest of the world. We are a sovereign nation, we are not under a world order or world government. We will live life our own way and make our own decisions. This includes the Paris Accord. This doesn't mean we will wreck the environment but we will do things our own way as we see fit.
Sounds like someone has a little bit of a superiority complex. Not all Americans think like you (thankfully) and plenty of us understand that we have to work together as a SPECIES, not a fucking NATION to fix this shit, or we're all fucked.
