pay for gallery and clips?

why do we have to pay to see the gallery-photos and videoclips?

remotehypnosis: I noticed that. It isn't something I would consider. This forum has a very pleasant jovial kind of atmosphere that I am detecting within most posts. I think that turning it into a adult pay site may cheapen that image.

I'm going to defend Mark here. This site is getting huge, and has hosting costs, he's added several new features recently like the blogs (is anyone using them yet?) and the ability to download film clips. Profit is not a four-letter word, and it is not unreasonable to want to be compensated for your work. Mark doesn't owe it to us to host this site for free. There are still plenty of free features to use, but we're in his house, so I think it's okay for him to decide what to charge for and what to keep free. Just my .02. I do like looking at the pics, but (obviously) I spend most of my time in the forums.

remotehypnosis: What about Google Adsense? I know there are ads on here but Adsense is more upmarket and I think would pull in better revenue. There must be 101 ways to make money from the site without making it an adult site.

Um, we already have premium memberships for those of us who wish to support this site, it's nothing new. You probably didn't realise that since you're new here. Maybe it was a way for Mark to encourage more members to become premium members so that more than just a few of us would participate.

This is a support group, not an adult site. The support forums will remain free, as I understand it. If anyone wishes to participate in the "extracurriculars", I think it's okay that that's extra.

I also drop a dollar in the basket at AA and pay for my own coffee.

IF this becomes a pay site/section I would love a warning or mailing letting me know so I could PULL my photos.

When I first posted them I didn't sign anything stating I give RIGHTS to this site for use of the photos however they see fit.

They are not Public domain and I'm sure there are many other people in the gallery that feel the same way.

I understand needing to recover costs - I run a few sites myself ... But when it comes to Money and Peoples photos ... You're stepping into another world and without a contract to state your right to use...

Editing my own pictures uses up my gallery quota.

It would be cool if viewing my *own* pics for maintenance reasons was just part of "my
controls", but perhaps there are limitations
on this system that prevent that.

Yeah I agree there should be something in place for letting you sort out your own pics and check back on the comments. Paying seems reasonable and that's only when you use up the free bandwidth that you're allowed...which I hardly do cos there's not enough pics of the LPSG ladies

I have to agree with MZ, there guys. When you reach a point in a site where it's popularity is reaching almost paramount status in regards to our group, things will need extra scratch to maintain it, and it's not so much to shell it out if you value being here, and able to have those extras.

Happy, you have a right to withdraw or delete your content at any time you wish, be they pictures, posts, or anything of the sort. That's your choosing, ultimately. Again, I'd have to agree with Zora and Chuck. Mark isn't charging "admission" to show some dick and boobs around here; the premium memberships (thus, unlimited bandwith to those members) are to offset the costs of running this place. And this is about as close as we've come up with regarding a Privacy Policy.

If Mark were selling photos to vendors privately or denying profit he's pulling and deceiving us about it, then that would be crossing the line, I would think. But I don't think that intention is there.

I don't know if you were around a couple of years ago when LPSG was hosted by EZBoard, and in an effort to generate web revenue, that site practically bombarded users with all sorts of pop-up and onsite ads. It became so horrendous that people just quit visiting -- with good reason, too. Why would I want 6 pop-ups for Viagra and Match.com just so I can read the latest posts? I think Mark's done a good job of asking/petitioning for some premium memberships while respecting that not everyone would use the service. It's just there; it's not required.

Should the day come -- and I hope it doesn't -- that people have to pay to get some good information or camaraderie among members... back to Yahoo e-groups it is.

Besides, unless you're a cheap bastard with no real interest here, $24 per year is more than reasonable, and Mark's not giving an ultimatum about it either, so really up to you whether you do or not. i find it very reasonable, and am going to shell out $24 next pay day.

Dee, I agree - To pay for a user Rank that lets you see more than the basic rank is fine and I fully support mark on it.

The assumption, my part, is that the first post hints on the issue of a Paid Membership only section for the photos and video.

That as the case would be reason to remove my photos.

I'm quite fine with the ability to assume bandwidth restrictions as part of keeping the site free. The Chat is free - the Blogs are free - the forums are free and even the photo sections are free as long as you stay in your Ranks bandwidth allowance.

I never stated, nor was it assumed I did, that this site was going to charge people to see the photos and no access to them otherwise. Just thought I would bring up the point that I and others with photos up didn't sign anything to give the rights for someone to "charge" for the access to them. At that point you cross the lines of model fees and so on.

If anything I would like to see a new rank but I'll go into that more at the help desk.

Long story short... I do support the choice of Mark in that he does need recover costs as MANY people see webhosting for $5.00 a month but have no clue what all it means. Myself, I own 3 adult servers. Bandwidth is where you get into the money... not the space.

And yes, I remember the ezboard. I was "PrickClick" on there and much like here, thought of as an ass or Troll because I don't find the need to kiss a little ass and will tell someone how I feel.

Well, I sure don't think of you that way. I've visited one of your sites and found it rather amusing! I also don't think people should have to kiss ass or agree with the popular opinion to have their voices heard and respected. Variety is necessary for discussion, as long as it's presented well, and you are very articulate and well thought out. Cute face too!
