Seems like "deja vu" for some reason...
I thought it seemed mighty familiar.
Yeah, when I was getting my hair cut the other day, this white kid getting a trim in the seat next to me came to the same conclusion as me: We'll get our country when the conservative Baby Boomers are all dead.
Unfortunately Dee, us baby-boomers said the same thing about our parents and grandparents and probably tried harder than any other generation since to actually change things. But the old folks died off and things have only gotten worse and the boomers have been co-opted by the man anyhow. Your generation won't be any different. (Life is short btw.)
Tim Wise is right about the demographic shift, but I wonder if there will be a corresponding shift of wealth to the new majorities. Right now, the richest 1% of the US population takes home 24% of all incomes. Furthermore, from 1980 to 2005, an astounding four-fifths of the total increase in American incomes went to the richest 1 percent. They've taken all the damn money money... what's to stop those who control the wealth today from continuing to move their capital and the means of production offshore and leave a shell country for the rest of you to inhabit? I think they'll throw the Pabst Blue Ribbon drinkers under the bus and move someplace nice.
yayyyyyyyy for White youth power ))
and you'll all be pennyless, working in factories making beads for China
my point exactly, and all the libtards will really find out what ghetto life is all about. the melting pot will be renamed the "shit pot". Shoulda listened to Grandma.
^Yeah, the Republican plan is to just let the rich take us to the bottom anyways, but stay here, face no accountability whatsoever, and keep everything they stole for themselves. Good thinking dipshits.
Rich people who think like that are pretty much signing their own death warrant if things ever go south. They'll be the first ones hunted down, regardless of where they are on the planet.
That is, unless you were born and raised in the ghetto to begin with. Their grandmothers have a different story.
Many people already have the tenacity to survive in such barbaric conditions, whereas the rest of the Norman Rockwell suburbanites & Teapublicans with their "restore America" rhetoric won't stand a chance. I mean, considering the long standing, perpetual cycles of poverty that have cultivated in this country for generations and the products that have evolved from such a climate... cycles that you've had no problem ignoring for so long while supporting the very greedy corporate forces that seek out to eliminate all aid to those in need under the false guise of equality, the only reason why you're warning of it now is because it's coming closer to your home. And you don't like it. Welcome to the other side of America.
Ironically, the "libtards" you chastised warned about this for years. Many people who you label "libtards" managed to find their way out of the poverty cycle in some way and they tried to explain why it was necessary to help those who struggle. Why entitlement programs are necessary and why we needed to improve our education system & infrastructure. Teapublicans labeled it Socialist/Fascist/Marxist/Un-American in some shallow attempt to protect rights that were never in jeopardy to begin with. But now what? Some of you need to wake up and realize that the "libtards" you have grievances with have more in common with you than the politicians you blindly follow who spin these phony dreams of financial prosperity. Alas, you only see me as a "libtard" so if you wake up one day and find that your picket fenced town looks like South Central, Los Angeles, remember that I told you so.
Then logically the proper response when people threaten to move away, is to let them. Sever links with outside institutions, impose limits on capital transfers out of the country. Say goodbye to the rich, but cut them off from that source of income, which is the rest of the population.
