Let me put it out there, I think sex work should be legal. I'm curious about the experience of our esteemed and distinguished members. The web has taken this profession to a whole new level. There are entire websites devoted to promoting escorts and some to reviewing their services.

Yup, I agree, I think it should be legalised too; if it was monitored and controlled it might not be such a horrible last resort for many people.

But personally, I would never pay for sex as I can't see myself EVER being that desperate, even if she had titties that tasted like Guiness; because I'd probably try and marry that girl.

I&#39;ve never had to pay for sex. Conversely I have never been offered pay for sex. I&#39;m about to make an exception as far as paying goes. I have a beautiful young friend who has lots of personal issues, including financial. I adore his body and he has a dick and balls to die for. I ran into him y&#39;day and told him I would pay him for sex. We had agreed earlier that we would never do this, but he needs the money, and his body is the best I&#39;ve ever had. I agree with him on this one. I don&#39;t think I&#39;d ever be willing to pay money for sex. I think it&#39;d be a lot more satisfying to work for sex and earn it. I&#39;d also never accept money for sex, I&#39;m sure if I had to, I could get by doing something else.

I understand that there are some who feel that prostitution is the only way they will ever get sex; that some employ prostitutes for a particular aspect of sex (i. e. the man who loves blowjobs, but his wife thinks they are nasty...); and still others for whom it is a fantasy/fetish (one of those forbidden fruit things, no doubt). Personally, it just does not appeal to me, but then again, anonymous or very casual sex doesn&#39;t, either.

I think it&#39;s ridiculous for prostitution to be "illegal," though. The government has no authority, IMHO, to regulate ANY kind of sex between consenting adults. I&#39;m guessing that the prohibitions originally grew from puritanical roots, but I would bet that the main government opposition these days is an inability to figure out how to tax it & profit from it.

Reasons why I&#39;d never pay somebody for sex:

1. Most prostitutes are ugly.
2. It&#39;s really really desperate IMHO.
3. I hate the very thought of paying somebody for sexual pleasure.
4. Even if I was desperate, I have Mr Right and Mr Left to keep me company on lonely nights, and the only thing they ask of me is I don&#39;t use them too much or I&#39;ll get a RSI.

I don&#39;t agree that all prostitutes are ugly. In fact, I can point to any number of hot guys with ads on the web who get paid for their services. Coltguy makes a good point: I don&#39;t see the problem with retaining the services of sex worker for an orgasm or just company. When I was drinking and drugging I was compensated for favors. I was also not compensated when I felt like I should have been. I was very picky and turned down 10 for every 1 I was with. I could put on a good show and while they&#39;d be all over the place, on the inside I was thinking "if I fuck them good and hard, it will be over faster". I sobered up and realized it was pitiful and incomprehensible demoralization. Don&#39;t get me wrong, some people seem cut out for sex work, for me it was just to support a lifestyle. I have no moral problems with it. Many people like myself who are very successful and single (I&#39;m not single) just don&#39;t have the time to invest. I&#39;ve been there...having them say what they think I want to hear, sucking up to me...or just sucking me...and all the while playing the game. There&#39;s a reason that prostitution is the world&#39;s oldest profession. Legalize it already.
