I'm not being self righteous. All I'm saying is that I have seen addiction at first hand and it's not straightforward. I have sympathy for her and for her children.

OK
geuss i could have been overly defensive with the downtrodden, whom i spent a lifetime working with
had an expectation that the Geldofs may have had better access to the necessary facilities, but of course we know where drugs are concerned, there's no discrimination as to who it takes etc

here is an eg of what i had to handle ..

when you see a 23yo come out of jail, str to Kings X (Sydney) that night and ODs the exact same night of his release, after 5 years inside, plus you have to go and identify him at 3am, that being one case

incidentally he had no family of influence, in fact brought up by a beloved deceased GMother who had passed away while he was inside, and never been told till he got out .. i had to read/comfort him, his Aunties letter to him that afternoon

here i was initially trying to arrange for him to get back to her ..

If I jumped out of an aeroplane with no parachute for kicks and was splattered on the ground,I wouldn't expect someone to feel much sympathy for me .The only reasonable reaction would be "silly sod, what did he IMAGINE was gonna happen ..??"
Heroin is a RECREATIONAL drug (the clue is in the title)...I'm sorry but when a celeb dies from a drug overdose some people will envarialby try to sugar-coat the reasons.
If the girl was emotionally ill, then therapy and medication are the solution, not the self diagnosis of 'drugs will make it better.'
It's not a case of me not feeling for the death of a young woman,it's the sheer stupidity of someone opting into taking a drug that has, time and time, killed so many people when they least expect it.Esp when the lesson should have been learnt from her family background.
I would wager that had she been Joe Blogs from a Council Estate in the East Midlands, her children would have, at the very least, been on an 'At Risk' register.

It makes little sense for me to feel sorry for a woman who is now dead. It's sad that she had problems that she wasn't able to work out, but she's gone now. So rest in peach, so to say. I hope she fares well on the other side. My real sympathy goes out to her children. It's tragic enough that they have to grow up without a mother, but with the way she went, how can they grow up without thinking that she consciously left them behind?

No sympathy.Another deluded z-lister who imagines playing with lethal drugs is a hoot.

wow, that's cold...opioid addiction is absolutely devastating, i've dealt with it myself, and i live in a city where heroin use has recently exploded, there is no way you can understand the level of unrelenting emotional pain someone might be experiencing every day of their life...but for some people, i guess it's just easier to judge

With all the OVERWHELMING publicity/imfo/warnings/education etc about what heroin does to an individual, why would anyone chose to do it the first place??
It's beyond idiotic.
Most people do it for recreational purposes, particually in the entertainment industry. It's all so predictable and stupid. The facts remain that she'll be forgotten about in few days and some other celeb in due course will take her place.Judgement doesn't come into it,it's all there in black and white.I must say there has been very little sympathy for her in the UK.I guess Brits, unlike many Americans, have a finely tuned B.S. radar.
