Well my goodness you certainly do have strong opinions on this topic. First of all for someone so PRO foreskin I would think you'd be congratulating me as an American middle class suburban mom for going against the grain and letting my son remain uncircumcised. Believe me, I've heard it all from he'll get teased in the locker room to "it's not clean"
His father is circumcised, but also talks to him about proper care of his penis. In what way is it traumatizing to him if mom says "hey can you make sure you pull back the foreskin when you pee"? And why does it somehow rob him of his masculinity coming from me? I also lecture him about proper nutrition but I don't think I'm giving him deep seeded body issues?

I'm trying to learn from you guys so a civil discussion (debate) is fine with me, but perhaps you can phrase your opinion is a way that seems slightly less judgmental.

Hey I've have had contact with my dad twice in 29 years ( my whole life ) so even though I had already worked out for myself how to keep clean when I was really little, my mum did give me the whole "you know how to keep yourself clean don't you ?" Chat. It certainly never emasculated me and left me with no bad memories or emotional scarring of an kind.

I would LOVE some feedback from those who have uncircumcised sons. After the last thread someone posted about pulling the skin back I lectured my (uncut) son about always pulling it back to pee. Lets just say that no matter how much I scrub the bathroom (Its all tile) it always smells faintly of urine which means the kid has poor aim or he's just not pulling it back. Is this a little boy issue (poor aim) or likely due to him having foreskin? It's driving me crazy, he swears he's careful but clearly he isn't! (He's under 10) Advice anyone? Is there some trick to getting a boy to aim better!?

You have every right as his mother to instill in your son good habits and consideration for others. Kids normally do not consider the consequences of their actions, but as they mature they will become more considerate, provided that a foundation was laid at an early age. Your son will get it, Seaside, but until then, hand him the brush, bucket with soapy water, and gloves. My dad always said that if you make a mess then you clean it up!

As for berating him, not only is it fair practice, but it is your parental duty to educate him properly. You're his mother. No child gets scarred by a loving mother's admonishings. Even though I go to great lengths in keeping myself clean and hygienic, I also do realise that it is only urine - Mostly water, some minerals and salts the body doesn't need, and a fraction (actually I don't even think it's a full percent) of urea, which incidentally is used in many face creams.

There are far worse things happening in our armpits, underneath our fingernails and in our mouths for most of the day!

I totally agree, especially when you consider the horror show going on round the back end. The hands are supposed to be the most germ infested part of your body too. The foreskin is a paradise of cleanliness in comparison.

There is no harm done by a mother reminding and advising a son on techiques and hygiene. Same goes for a father. These little boys someday with any luck just might be having to teach thier own kids. It didn't take to long for the son to get the hint to make sure to pull back and aim correctly, christ kid stop playing battleship when peeing in the toilet, do that when you peeing in the shower or outside. When I was semi-cut, I would hold my dick in with just a bit of pressure forwards to keep remaining foreskin over head and prevent it from retracting. The piss slit was still well away from the edge fo foreskin, so foreskin didn't trap any urine. And I would make sure the penis was placed back in undwerwear with skin over part of head (to prevent erections that happened when head was exposed).

Foreskin is not unhygienic. If you never pull back and wash properly in the shower or bath, than yes, they can get gross and quickly.
