Hi. I'm new here, though I've browsed through some of the discussions in the past. Anyway, one of the reasons I signed up is I have a question about my penile raphe (the seam on the underside of the penis). I'm intact, and my seam starts in the center and then veers sharply to the left, ending on the left hand side at the tip. My frenulum also goes to the left. If I retract fully when soft, my penis goes sharply to the left as well. When hard I can retract fully on the right side, but not without a little pain on the left. I was wondering if anybody else has this? Is it a problem? I definitely don't want a circumcision, but I was wondering if I should get frenuloplasty/frenulectomy? I haven't had problems with it during sex/masturbation yet, but I worry that I could.

You mean your frenulum is off center? It's not uncommon, though your case does sound a little severe... Do you have any pics to illustrate? In any case it sounds like you have frenulum breve, and especially if it's off center, that can cause some problems. Frenuloplasty/frenulectomy would probably be your best bet.

Yes, my frenulum is a little off center, however if I turn the foreskin clockwise as a I pull down on it the frenulum falls into place in the center. What's really off center is the seam on the bottom, which in my case is on the side. I can retract fully with just a straight pull down, but it's easiest if I turn the skin like a screw-top. I've been doing stretches twice daily in the shower and for the past three weeks and have already seen improvement. I'll try to get a couple pictures posted ASAP.

I can vouch for frenulum tying personally. I had a slightly off center frenulum attachment as well, which only caused minor inconvenience for me in the form of making my pee stream come out at a bit of an angle :p but I tied mine twice and love the results.

@Smartalk, craptacular:
I have a question about the frenulum tying. I've done some research, and it looks like a lot of people have done it themselves, usually without a lot of complications. Did either of you do it yourselves?

Yep, I mentioned in my last post ;) it was overall very easy (once I got past the psychological hump!), there was little pain, and the results are very aesthetically pleasing.

Yes I did it myself twice. Here is my account of how I did it, which I posted on the website: I tied my own penile frenulum. | tiedfrenulum There are a number of accounts from people who have carried the procedure themselves.

I read about this technique a number of years ago and eventually plucked up the courage to do it, having read a number of informative websites and forums. For the thread I use nylon sewing thread which is fine and very strong with elastic properties., One threaded through the frenulum and pulled tight and the knots tided, the nylon thread contracts thus putting a fair amount of pressure on the frenulum aiding it to cut through the flesh neatly with minimum discomfort. I soaked the thread in antiseptic mouthwash to sterilise it.

I have read that a number of you have found it difficult trying to pierce the frenulum with an ordinary sewing needle. I was able to obtain a hypodermic needle 23 gauge, which is designed to penetrate though skin thus much sharper. The other advantage is the needle being hollow, once pierced through the frenulum, I was able to pass the thread through the inside of the hollow needle, which meant you didn’t have to insert the needle very far and didn’t have any resistance and discomfort pulling the tread through the frenulum. I then withdrew the needle holding onto the thread at the pointed end of the needle and slid if off the opposite end of the thread. I then tide the knots as tight as i could, with no fear of the thread snapping, due to its tensile strength. I cleaned the area with antiseptic mouthwash 2-3 times daily and would give a gentle tug on the thread. After about a week on tugging the tread it came away in my hand, leaving the frenulum nice and neat and much freer and comfortable on retracting my foreskin.

I am of the opinion that a tight frenulum can be one the causes of premature ejaculation. The frenulum being rich in nerve endings and very sensitive, therefore on penetration the foreskin is drawn back and the frenulum is stretched, This gives rise to extra stimulation to the nerve endings, thus taking you past the point of no return with no means of ejaculatory control. I would be very interested to hear from anyone else who has notice this, please post your thoughts and experiences.

I am now thinking of repeating the process so that my foreskin will retract even further as the technique is simple. straightforward, virtually painless and gives excellent cosmetic results. I for one recommend this technique, particularly as I have had the very painful and very bloody experience of tearing my frenulum whilst having sex Ooooch not to be recommended.

Finally: always always make sure that everything is sterile, carefully avoid piercing or tying off any of the small veins mentioned, Remember the importance of taking your time carrying out the procedure and exercise patience in letting the thread do the job you intended it to do. FINALLY: ……. Always wash your hands before doing the procedure and when touching/inspecting the area, Clean the area several time a day with mild antiseptic (in my case antiseptic mouthwash) or salt and water solution. Any sign of infection, unlikely if you take care and look after it properly, go and see your Doctor, somewhat embarrassing, but vital.

@ Smartalk:
That was one of the websites I went to when I was researching. I've got a couple of questions, I'm very active and work part time teaching circuit training would I be able to continue? Also, would the foreskin have to stay back? I'm not to the point where I'm considering going ahead with something like this. I've had good results so far from stretching without any creams. I've got some novoglan stretching cream coming in the mail all the way from Australia soon I hope.

@erratic:
That's just as likely as there being any actual issues. I have terrible anxiety, and am a bit of a hypochondriac/OCD.

Then my suggestion for you would be to define for yourself what an "issue" with your frenulum would be, and how many times a year it would have to happen for you to do something about it. Then wait a year and count up how many times you have one of those issues and compare it to the problem threshold you decided on earlier. If it falls below the threshold, worry is the problem. If it's above the threshold, speak to a physician.

Yeah I'm not planning on rushing into anything I might regret. I'm nearly 32 and everything's worked fine so far. The main problem (if you want to call it that) is that I've actually grown some in the past few Years, either that or my foreskin got tighter. Anyway like I said, stretching seems to be working well, so I probably want to just stick with that for the moment. Thanks for your help.

I was able to carry all activities as normal obviously I abstained from any form of sex including masturbation. There is no reason to keep the foreskin retracted in fact you don't realise its there. Hope this helps

You've been very helpful, thank you. I'm going to hold off doing anything drastic for now. I'm not sure if I've just got more skin on the right side than on the left, I'll show you what I mean regarding the seam.

And the frenulum pulled back all the way. I turn the skin clockwise a little bit when pulling back.

When I did it I actually moved one of the last days the string was in, carrying heavy boxes and jogging down a slope and some stairs. Other then worrying about if it would be okey it didn't bother me at all. And for the mostpart I kept my foreskin forward as I use to.
Once the string is in, I think it's not much of an issue. You just have to be patient and try not to worry. ;)

I'm uncut and when I was a teen my frenulum slightly tore and after a while kinda slowly tore some more until it was gone. I'll try to post pics someday
