In my mind, the words SOUND that way to me. I hate the word "penis" because you couldn't design a more small-sounding word for a big organ than that. lol. I've never liked the word penis either. Dick and cock are powerful words in my opinion.
An observation that we may wish to consider
Definitions/understanding of words change over the years. As a member of the "Boomer Generation" we referred to our cocks utilizing many other synonyms. Heck, referencing a penis could have been considered "pornographic". It was very derogatory to call someone a cock sucker, so "cock" was profanity. A "dick sucker" was much more eloquent
