Survey says:

1) the mean erect penis length was 5.3 in. (13.5 cm)

2) with 68% of men measuring between 4.6 and 6.0 in. (11.7 cm and 15.2 cm)

3) 13.5% between 6.1 and 6.8 in. (15.5 cm and 17.3 cm)

4) only about 2.5% of men possessed a penis over 6.9 in. (17.5 cm) long

In other words if your penis was 6.9 inches and you were in a room of 100 randomly chosen men only 2 and a half penises (okay, okay 3) would be larger than yours.

The link is the most authoritative paper I can find and makes the most sense.

This paper certainly reflects the evidence from standardised penis measuring research that I used professionally and also my own professional experience and opinion on how men relate to their penis size.

I'd like an opinion on the validity of a measurement method which I used when younger. Rather than place a ruler against the pubic bone, I laid my penis out on a counter and measured from the edge of the counter to the tip. This seemed like a legitimate method, since it would be the depth to which it could penetrate. If you have compared this method with the ruler atop the penis, could you see any perceptible difference in measurements? When I called it 8.5 inches (21.5 cm) was I exaggerating my size?

sounds about right. I'm 7.25 x 6.5. a few yrs back, a website had some statistics, and about 4 men out of 100 would be my size or larger.

Yeah I'd say those numbers are pretty much dead on. However, I'd like to point out that if someone was truely 9" long then they probably wouldn't also be 6.5" thick at the same time. 9x6 or 9x5 would probably be more realistic.

Most longer penises are thinner, and most thicker penises are shorter. And I don't mean thin/short as in small for those categories. I just mean that you don't see both super long and super thick at the same time very often. It's usually one or the other.
