Hi,

I've always been very clean when it comes to my knob, as you never know when an opportunity may arise ;)

Lately though I've notice, going to the loo about midday, behind my foreskin is a little smeggy, even though I had a shower that morning, and always wash the little one.

I've always used a little shower gel, but not too much. Just seems a little odd that I'm generating more.

Anyone else had this?

I know what you mean. A film of smeg can remain no matter how much one washes.

I dont know how/why but my unprofessional advice is not to use any soap/shower gel etc on such delicate skin and also I have a suspicion that lube can create a barrier that washing just cannot get through.

I would imagine that hot hot hot water would thoroughly clean, but it would probably cause damage too! And also I notice that hot hot showers actually make me smell afterwards...strange but true.

I suspect that someone in the know will tell us that we produce more discharge etc at different times of the month/year/day etc and that this may be the cause, as it certainly isn't always that this happens to me, but I have noticed it of late also.

If it's building up that quickly, it's not normal smegma. Most likely yeast infection, which can occur non-sexually. In the UK, Canasten cream will fix it.

I too would advise not using soap or shower gel down there. Warm water alone should suffice.

Yes, feel_thick, smegma only builds up on uncut guys. It shouldn't be a problem as long as you wash your dick.

Actually I'm cut and get smegma as I'm a grower. I got it even before I did some restoration. Now I'm losing weight and that's causing my fat pad to retract, exposing more of my glans than before but I still get smeg, particularly in summer or after a lot of exercise. Not a lot though.

Oh, that's interesting. I had wondered if the secretions responsible were produced by the glans or the foreskin.

I'm uncut, and luckily, I've never had a problem with smegma. I've never done anything special regarding washing, just soap, and on occasion Noxema ( the tingle is strangely erotic...<EG> One thing I might suggest if you think it's a yeast infection..... try washing inside it with diluted vinegar, wait a few minutes, then shower. The vinegar changes the pH balance of the skin, and yeast can only grow in certain pH conditions. Just a thought...

Thanks for the replies guys.

I think I should pop over to my GP to have it checked out, though the thought of pulling back a smegged foreskin in front of the doc is a little embarrassing.

They come from the foreskin. With me, the foreskin remnant bunches-up over itself and onto the corona so both remain protected from contact. There's nowhere for the secretions to go unless I pull back the skin or get an erection. It's also why I have PPPs.

What I have read is that the glands that produce smegma are located underneath the glans and not on the foreskin. Therefore, circumcised men still make smegma it just gets smeared on their drawers through the day.

BTW, have you changed your diet lately? Are you eating more fats? I think a fatty diet helps produce smegma.
I haven't seen smegma on my dick in years. Really not since puberty ended. I do try to watch what I eat.

If it is a yeast infection your odor would be different. Noticed any changes? IF is IS a yeast infection, you may have some underlying condition that has lowered your immunity, i.e., Diabetes.
Try an over the counter anti-yeast cream. It won't hurt anything if it is not a yeast infection.
At the same time stop eating sugar and carbs, beer etc. They feed the yeasts.

Are you on any meds? Not so long ago I was on some anti-biotics and a side-effect was that they made my foreskin/glans swollen and itchy followed by the production of smeg (I never usually produce any). Three days I got off those meds I was back to normal.
