That's great that you enjoy exploring new artists and new genres of music, but if someone else doesn't, why would that bother you?
I was wondering the same thing.

Why does it matter to you that other people won't expand their musical horizons? Some people love to try new things, and some don't. Let the latter folks be content within their "horizons". That's what I do. I can't help it if some people are to stubborn to realize my way is the right way to be. :biggrin1:

I also suspect that you'll put people's backs up with the attitude that seems to be behind phrases like "jerked the sour milk out of the rap culture cow", What the heck does that even mean? "utter drivel" and "I mean, what the fucking fuck?". Few people want to be bullied or taunted into trying something new.
Quite true.

I listen to everything from bluegrass to death metal. It's all about emotions, for me. Some people don't want to change, and that's fine. I don't judge them by it or say anything about it. I mean, they can do what they want. I really think they are limiting themselves, though. But they have to live with that decision, not me.

That's me too! Actually, I'm chatting online with a guy who is in a death metal band. I like them as a band too (they're called Against the Plagues).

Yeah, you can't exactly force someone to listen to music they don't want to listen to. I have very few genre dislikes in music, but it seems like the music I don't like was the MOST popular where I grew up! I wonder if maybe that's why I don't like those kinds of music (mainly the "crying in your beer" kind of country... I like bluegrass and alt-country, though.)

I grew up on 80's rap, the time when they actually had lyrics with a rhyme and a beat to it and a story (I think the rap song The Message is timeless and a classic), nowdays, some rap I like, Missy Elliot, T.I, 50 Cent, Snoop Dogg I enjoy a lot, but as a whole, I dont listen to rap as much as I did in the 80's and early 90's.

The thing that bother's me about music, and the OP is perfect example, is that when a new genre or artist appears, you either like it or don't those that do or people like the OP adopt this "Hipper than thou" attitude.

I don't like any particular style, I always say I hate C&W especially the plaintiff "Wheelchair went over the cli-iff" songs that Country seem to specialise in; but that's more to do with not hearing much of the good stuff that there must be.

I like voices, it's the voice that attracts me- of any style, I want to hear a good vocal interpretation, from Streisand,to Holliday, Ditto to Joplin, London to Sioux. and Bjork again and again and again.

Back to the original point though, and to paraphrase; you like lots of music some people don't share your taste, they are wrong....

No they aren't. Get over yourself.
