wow...perfectly said. I can relate 100%. I don't feel any need to offer up how old I am. All of the snarky comments from young girls are kind of pointless in that they too will be your age some day. It's either that or die. Amazing how we value youth above anything these days.

sorry OP- we can resume your convo again now..

Actually, it was a guy who gave me the nickname. He's at least four years older than me. It was the guys who harassed me about my age. I suppose that they think it's hilarious when women age or something.

For the most part, women don't joke about my age. With women it's more like whether or not I fit in that bothers me. Just before those three guys called me a cougar for the first time in my life, we attended a wedding and I was seated at a table with most of the bridesmaids who had all just recently graduated from college. They assumed that I was around their age. I liked feeling like I was included. It really drove home the difference in how it feels when other people treat you like you're one of them instead of like you really don't belong.

um, i am 32 and i do pass for 18.... i still get carded buying matches sometimes.....

I don't mean to be offensive, but I really doubt it. I am sure you look great for your age. You probably even look younger than your age. But I have a hard time believing that you, at 32 could pass for an 18 year old boy.

Being carded in this day and age means nothing. I am 46 and have been carded at least twice in the last year. Some establishments are so nervous about being caught in a sting that they throw common sense out the window.

Some people really can. Especially if they have youthful features and very good skin and they're thin.

I have never met a 32 year old man who could pass for being 14 years younger no matter how great he might have looked or how good his skin might have been.

I've had a few shocked reactions when I've disclosed how old I am.

^ Yep...

as long as you are legal (over 18) does it really matter?
and... if you are going to lie about your age, take a reality check and make sure you look it.

About a year ago, I went to a bar with hubby and he went in (no questions) I was behind him and got carded. I hugged the guy~ Told him he made my day and I told him I was probably old enough to be his mom. He looked shocked, but hey... I certainly do not look 18... or 28 even... but have passed for 38 many times.

The Admins know my age here... I used to post it, then thought.. why should I advertise to everyone how old I am? If asked, I usually just say "I'm old enough to be classified as a cougar... RAWWRRR" LOL

To me, that is a compliment. Cougars are supposedly, hot, sexxy, and mature. Nice. I like that description.

Real Life? Everyone knows my age, I don't hide it and am damn proud of it.

I think that people who lie to others also spend a lot of energy lying to themselves. I also think they are a little crazy.

Yeah, same reason people get facelifts, botox, date young strippers. It's all the quest to be young and fun and never die.

People always think I'm younger than I am.. I just ask them how old they think I am, and just go with their answer.

I've never understood this, either. One of my very close friends always claimed to be in his mid to late 20's and claimed he could pass for it (he couldn't. I know that's harsh, but it's the truth). He loved chasing after younger guys and that's the only way he could land any of them. They never stuck around, and he could never understand why. I just grimaced and shrugged everytime he presented another "woe is me" tale. Unfortunately, he died 4 years ago at age 44. He never found what he was looking for, and probably could have if he'd have gotten over whatever insecurity he had (and he DID have at least one (if not more), I just never figured out what/why) and chased after some guys that were closer in age as him, and guys whom he had something in common with. Sad.

On the flip side, I always disclose my CORRECT age, but only when asked; I rarely offer my age in casual conversation with unknowns or acquaintences. Hey, I've earned every single one of those years and am finally glad to be taken seriously as an adult. There's nothing I hated more than having my input or opinion discounted because I was a 20-something whom the rest of the world seems to discount as "still just a kid".

hey monel: just because you're having issues about people lying about their age doesn't mean you have to knock me down for telling the truth about myself.... it's not as though i go around telling people i'm 18 or anything.... if you really don't believe it, then why not check this out?

oh, and to Petite: i can totally relate to your holiday anecdote.... around most people (even younger ones) i've been nicknamed things such as 'the kid', 'twink boy', and have even been told i could easily pass as a 27 year old lesbian.... it's pretty sad.....

You do look a great deal younger than you are.
Personally, I wouldn't look at those photos and say you look 18.
I might say 24.

A better way to be perceive as older is to gain some muscle mass. Especially in the arms.
Before I had gained a lot of muscle mass I was perceive as a 14 year old, when I was It 19. it sucked.

Forearms is a good place to target since they take more time to get bigger.

lol.... i personally don't think i look 18 either; i just look like myself.... but i could pass for 18 if i told someone i was.... it all boils down to perceptions i guess.... you might feel differently if you heard what my voice sounded like though.... been smoking for 17 years and i get mistaken for a 36 year old woman on the phone sometimes depending on how i answer it.... but that's another topic entirely....

God, please Concupisys, give up the cigarettes. Regardless of all of the superficial manifestations of ageing, smoking WILL kill you. And that's no good.

I think I look my age and fortunately or unfortunately do not 'act
my age'. There is no Peter Pan behaviors but fortunately good
genes. Often when I meet men my age, older and even younger
do not believe me til I pull out my drivers license.

Not too long ago a young, handsome man came on very strong which
was very difficult for me to accept - so our second date I asked him
how old he was. Turns out his response was 7-yrs younger than the truth -
it took 3-mths for him to finally tell me the entire, surprising, unsuspecting
truth. What he was 'hiding' was he was a 'rent boy' until a good friend
provided me with a website...part of his explanation is he is used to
'hiding' his real age to protect his on-the-side business.

According to him he really fell for me and was about to retire from the
trade. I was and not stupid - with this reality I walked for all the untruths.
Now it is 3-yrs later and he still advertises and has moved through quite
a few older, paying gentlemen. Goes to show there are no secrets for very
long here in Palm Springs or may be news travels fast.
