Actually, the main difference between the regular old Coca Cola and regular old Pespsi Cola syrup recipes is that Coke has an orange flavor base in its syrup while Pepsi has a lemon flavor base. The fact that both are brown has absolutely nothing to do with them being colas, which most people who live in Central and South America can attest. If you really need a buzz, try Inca Cola (yes, from Peru, but bottled all over Brazil, Ecuador, Columbia). It has enough natural caffeine that you'll have difficulty sleeping for a couple of days. It's bright yellow. The more common and popular colas in those same countries tend to be pinkish or orange in color.
