I'm not sure you got my point, those posts were directed at people who clearly didn't grasp the idea that it is not ok to do this in public, they acted as if it was completely acceptable and that everyone should be completely comfortable with others behaving like that. I've stated this countless times, if I see a guy stroking his meat in the middle of the locker room I would not want that guy around anyone, there is a reason why the sex offender list exists.
Just apply what you've said to the heterosexual sex act I witnessed. Should that guy and woman be on the sex offender list because they had sex in public?

I'd have to know more of the details regarding the context of the situation. Its definitely not something I would condone, but I wouldn't see that as bad as a guy masturbating in a public setting.

I've described the context. A public beach, two people having sex in a public setting. What more do you need to know?

I totally understand and respect your concerns. Just consider yourself lucky that we're not in the Roman era, the public baths were coed and often sexual places, with brothels often attached. Read this account that describes public sex in the baths www.dailymail.co.uk: The steamy truth about the Roman Bath

That would have been accepted as a perfectly normal occurrence in that setting, I've already addressed this before. A locker room, shower or sauna in the gym is intended for just that and that alone. I don't know if any of these stories are true but at all the gyms I got to guys don't talk to each other in there for the most part, I remember saying hi to some guy that I saw regularly and had spoken to in the past, in the gym itself and not the locker room, and it turned into a very awkward situation. The weirdest thing I have seen was a group of bros standing in front of the mirror and discussing each others bodies, one mentioned how the others chest hair was starting to show lol......it was pretty weird and hilarious at the same time. Were those guys about to have a mass circle jerk right then and there? No, but it was very odd to see.

Not long ago I was using the urinal there, at the time there were a couple other guys using the others that were there, and when I finished I shook my penis, since I am uncut and make sure I don't have any dribble afterwards, and one of the other guys got pissed and called me a jackass under his breath lol.

My point is, even minor little things, like I mentioned above, created awkward situations that made others uncomfortable.

I reread your post, I'd say no they shouldn't be but they should not be doing that in public.
I agree with you up to a point. I don't want to go to the gym or swimming pool and get flashed at by a random stranger or come across men masturbating or having sex. In general it's not welcome. That's as a mainly gay man. So I can appreciate that a straight man would like it even less. But then I think to talk about this in terms of perversion, bestiality, paedophilia, sex offenders, fucking weirdos etc plus talk of violence - teeth and lights being knocked out - IMO that steps over the line into something else. I'm not condoning public sex, but your reaction is out of proportion. And I can't help noticing that your outrage and anger are directed only at instances of homosexual sex acts in public spaces.

I wouldn't punch someone if I saw something like that, but many guys would. Again, a lot of what I said, which you again quoted above, was directed at a poster who just didn't seem to get that it's not ok to do behave like that in a locker room. In regards to the pedophile, sex offender and weirdo comments I made......Imagine you hit the showers after a good gym session, lets say a guy walks in and within a minute starts masturbating right then and there, that guy is a weirdo. Lets say I see a really hot girl with an amazing ass and tits at the local mall, now I pull down my pants and start stroking away.....if I was someone else I'd be really creeped out by that. If I see someone who has the inability to control himself and he behaves in a similar manner......I would wonder if this guy has any boundaries and how this could affect women or children. As adult males, our role is to protect women, children and society as a whole.

The threats of violence would not be out of proportion from someone who would feel scared in that situation, because that is possibly how I might feel. I agree that there might perhaps be homophobic undertones to some of it, but homophobia is a phobia. You would not see the same attitude from straight men having to put up with women doing this kind of thing. Less likely though, as men and women would not be using the same gym lockers in general.

I see what you mean. It would still actually be a sex offence, and could also be really intimidating and threatening. It would, in a way, be the same as any man doing that to a woman.

The thing is that men don't have to worry about being raped, for the most part, so we wouldn't see it as intimidating or threatening.....just really fucking weird. That's why I laugh at all these idiotic arguments about men being sexually harassed or high school boys being "raped" by their hot teacher with an ass that would make the gods proud.

That sounds almost like the discredited 'Portsmouth' or 'gay panic defense' in law (where the defendant claims that they have been the object of homosexual advances and find this so 'frightening' that it brings on uncontrollable violence). Not buying it - most men wouldn't be actually scared of rape or feel sexually threatened in the situations described here.

Male rape does happen though, doesn't it?, and it's under-reported, and has such a huge amount of stigma and shame attached to it. I can accept that most men would not feel afraid though.

There are a lot of pages in here, so I don't know if this has been stated before, but sexual activity in places where people are permitted to expose any part of their genitalia are unfortunately common and it's well-documented.

It's largely unacceptable and in this situation many gyms have a zero-tolerance policy against it. If you are caught or if you are flagged by other patrons or staff your membership will be revoked and you will be banned.

That being said, it's geographical differences that make policing more or less strict. It was mentioned before that in more gay-friendly areas they are more likely to overlook activity in the saunas because it's pretty much a part of gay-culture, but many suburban gyms are very quick to police lewd behavior to the full extent.

If you find it prevalent in a particular gym you go to, it's probably because staff is tired of dealing with it, or no one has snitched. You can casually bring it up to an employee and see what happens or you can just straight up blow the whistle. It's well within your right.

I agree it's well within ones right.

So what if your the new guy? You go to a new gym and you feel the sexual tension or the promiscuity in the air.
Your not a fan.
So what is your right then.

A- blow the whistle?
B- accept the culture but make it known your not a fan ?
C- ignore it all together?

Isn't it clear what is accepted in that area?

It's kind of like going into a hooters restaurant and being upset because their wings suck the food sucks and there are tits all around.

Who's rights prevail yours, or the rights of the people who were patriots of the environment before you walked in the door?

When you walk into a Hooters restaurant it is expected to see girls wearing revealing outfits. When someone walks into the locker room it is expected to use it for changing your clothes, using the bathroom, showering and using the sauna......its not expected to see sexual activity there out in the open for everyone to see.

I am just going to make this clear for those who don't understand this very basic concept who may be reading this.

Exactly-
So if I walk into a hooters and I see tits everywhere do I have a right to complain

My comment wasn't about sex in the lockeroom being right or wrong. I do agree it's wrong. My comment was based on the post above mine where the poster explains demographics and culture.

If you walk into a bar and while your there you encounter some rough regular patrons are there should they be expected to change because your there or should you confirm the the culture.

Sex anywhere isn't acceptable be it male or female in a bar or in a park or anyplace public. My question is more about culture and not at all about sex.

I don't know that anyone should be on the sex offender list for public sex. Hetero' or Gay makes no difference. I do think it is wrong and if a municipality has laws with heavy punishment that forbid public coitus so be it. Having sex in public places is the wrong thing to do. Bathrooms, locker rooms, and city parks were not intended to be impromptu places for sex. This should not be so hard for people to understand. I am willing to be most if not all of us were taught at some point that we need to keep ourselves clothed in public. I would also think at some point we were told that sexual activities and exposing ourselves should only be done with willing participants. Someone trying to take a leak, wash their hands, shower, fly a kite with their 7 year old, or put groceries in their car would not be one of those said willing participants.

The one thing that truelly seperates man from beast is man's ability to use reason to overcome his instinct.
