My top 10 list, in no particular order (well, the order in which I think of them):
1. People who go out of their way to use trendy language, for the sake of using trendy language (ie. making quotes in the air, eleventeen year olds saying "DMY", etc)
2. The members of the general public who are stupid and ignorant (ie. 80% of society)
3. Stuck up people who think the world's going to end because they didn't get the newest car this year or that their annual capri is cut short by a week constitutes a problem -- go to an underpriviledged area in a major city, talk to the people about their problems, and then bitch to me that your vacation abroad is a problem, okay?
4. People who totally lack self-confidence. Granted, everyone at one point or another doubts themselves.. that's okay. I'm talking about these people who bitch and complain that " can't do it!" when they haven't tried. Nobody wants to hear about what you can't do, the sky's the limit on that one, particularly if you're not going to even try.
5. Companies who put commericals at the beginning of DVDs that you have to fast forward through. Excuse the language, but I bought the fucking DVD so that I wouldn't have to see commericals, and you're plugging your god-forsaken movies and TV shows while I'm trying to sit down and relax. The point of the DVD is to avoid this commerical crap -- you just got $20-30 out of me for the DVD, no?
6. The fact that celebrities can commit a crime and profit off of it, whereas if you or I did the exact same thing, we'd get minimum security prison, as opposed to Camp Cupcake -- justice is blind, remember? Apparently justice prefers to wear Gucci, even if she can't see herself in it.
7. Companies who jack the price of stuff for no particular reason, just because they can. Cell phone services are a good one -- $2-5 for a 10k background on my cell phone? Thanks but no thanks. Profit is the goal, I understand... but when it costs you all of $0.10, charging $5 isn't exactly kosher. Banks do the same thing -- it does not cost $1.50 PER BANK to get money out of a bank machine.. somehow banks did it for years and it only cost $1 per transaction, if it wasn't your bank. Now it's $3. If anything, technology has made it cheaper. Don't screw me out of my money, you're a BANK. You have enough already.
8. People who abuse the system -- any system -- that is a service to help those who need it. Welfare's a great example. Great system for those who genuinely need it. But if you're a twenty-something with no kids and aren't even trying to look for a job, don't bitch that you're not getting enough on your free check from the government. Not long ago there was a mother of 6 who was complaining because a minor welfare cut prevented her from getting her Pay TV movie channels. Muffin. The system is to help the 6 kids and put a roof on your head, not to feed the baby churning machine and make your ass comfortable so you don't want to do anything again. One day those 6 kids are going to grow up and see their mother as someone who didn't do anything for her money, and they're going to follow the pattern -- not something we want to be teaching the next generation. Not to mention, one day those eggs of hers are going to dry up and the kids will flee the nest, and then the $20 welfare cut is going to be the last of her problems when she's not getting money for 6 kids anymore. Get some skills and get back out there while you can.
9. Homeless people who say they are too proud to ask for welfare. How are you too proud to walk into a government office, get a roof over your head and some hot food and a hot shower, but you're not too proud to beg for the change in my pocket? I already pay over 50% in income taxes, and your welfare should be coming out of that, not out of the other change in my pocket.
10. People who gauge their patriotism based on how many flags they have, or how big their flag is -- but then are the first to criticize the government when something doesn't go their way. Until you've picked up a gun and stood a post, run for office and tried to make things better, or become a government employee yourself, you should be one of the last people to criticize the minutia of your daily lives -- particularly when it comes to himming and hawing (I know the spelling is atrocious) over what's happening overseas, when you're living your in you comfortable house criticizing those whose lives are at stake 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Yes, murder and mistreatment is wrong and should be investigated, but those soldiers are doing their job, don't criticize them for it. Criticize the president if you must -- but apparently that's taboo, because it makes you unpatriotic to disagree with a man who has the top job in the US. Democracy, yes. Ultra-criticism, no.
Wow. That did take a load off.
Sorry for the bitching.
Merry Christmas, everyone!
