Why Democrats are debating over a wine cave - CNNPolitics
What’s a Wine Cave Anyway?
I like Elizabeth Warren. A lot. However during the debates she has turned into an old-fashioned school marm like the one in A Christmas Story that handed Ralphie the C- on his theme. She has been busy dissing any of her fellow candidates for daring to socialize or fundraise with anyone who has an income above minimum wage. So like Miss Marple admonishing an errant pupil, Warren scolded Buttigieg for being a limousine liberal at heart.
Pete Buttigieg, the bright fellow from South Bend, Indiana with the oddly-shaped nose has a problem. Although he's leading in Iowa his largest constituency is among white males, both gay and heterosexual. By contrast his popularity among African-Americans is fractional, like well below baseball's Mendoza Line. Elizabeth Warren calculated that most blue-collar voters who go to the polls have never visited a wine cave or even know what the hell a wine cave is. And to Tyrone an African-American, the thought of a Democratic candidate sipping $900 wine out of Waterford crystal and enjoying a banquet with Northern California elite is tantamount to sleeping with the enemy.
