Why are all the posts in this forum by men?

Why do so few women opine in this forum?

They're surely not devoid of the desire for political discourse?

Is it because the women come to LPSG for other reasons?

That doesn't account for for the gay men that post here.

Should I do a poll? Is it worth the hassle?

    Arrrrgh! Quoted while still editing!

This particular gem is sadly just regurgitated brilliance from HazelGod who first posted it eons ago.

That would be funny if you actually participated in the discourse in this forum. Maybe you agree with the video?

I am a Cash Cab and Jeopardy freak and I can WHOLEHEARTEDLY exclaim that most of the women on those shows don't know much about world affairs and politics.

    They are just not interested...

    explanation:

Women are just as intelligent as men but by and large seem to view politics as an abstraction rather than a tangible entity. Maybe if there were more women in politics, you would see more of an interest on their part. In women's defense, never before in the history of mankind have they been more involved in politics at this present day. Women's involvement in politics is more a thing of the future than a thing of the past or to some degree, the present.

Love the Harry Enfield clip. :p

No, it shouldn't be renamed - as many women as possible should be encouraged to post in here.
Some do already - Principessa for one. :D

I think it's a complete misconception that women are not political, as I, and certainly several women I know are and can hold our own with regard to a few topics.

If curious why women are not attracted to this forum, consider the stale/predictable content, regurgitated talking points (if not outright plagiarizing), or discourse that turns abusive as possible reasons. A while back, one of the other women was attacked over the content of her pictures by some asshole after she discussed her political conservatism. I know that I was called an uncle tom at some point for stating my contrary political opinion. Another poster was called a racist without foundation and I won't get into the ridiculousness thrown at Trinity - mostly, because she throws it right back. But, if I were a woman reading this forum for the first time, it would turn me off from posting as well.

But, just to clarify, not all of the posts here are by men. I, Red, Gillette, Bliss, Zoe, Snoozan, and a few others have regularly added our opinions to political topics. Additionally, unlike several politics posters, the women also seem to post outside of this forum with ease. Admit it, you guys are just envious of the female versatility. :biggrin1:

What LadyShady said, with the exception that all of the He/She and Holy Its posts be moved under their own section called "Trinity and Things." That way the Holy It would be oh so much easier to ignore. It has nothing to do with her sex. She's be just as stupid if she were a man.

BTW: Gillette is a way cool woman-type-person. We like La Gillette. We will keep her!

    Sweet!
    Thank you.
    Don't be a tool.

I have my opinions about general issues in American politics and I post on those. When it comes to the day to day nitty gritty of Washington's doings I can't be arsed with it. I have my own country to concern myself with.

I, too, agree with Lady Shady's assessment, especially where American political threads are concerned. Eventually most of them look like two tribes of bonobos throwing fecal matter at each other and I'd as soon not have a "tard" bomb lobbed at me. Besides, with dubya out of office the comedy has largely gone out of it.

Just as a comparison has anyone noticed that "New Era Dawns for EU" has reached 507 posts and 'tard' hasn't been used once? So it is possible. Cool.
