When will the outrage begin related to the most recent racist comments made by Melissa Harris Perry directed at Mitt Romney's adopted black grandson? It took just a few days for the media to trounce on Phil for comments that were not racist nor were they anti gay. As opposed to what was said by Melissa and her panel which were directly racist and meant to form some opinion about the Romney family.

For what its worth that kid won the adopted family lottery. To be taken in by such a good family with plenty of means to support, love and give this child a chance at life. Shame on Melissa and this panel for making such disgusting remarks. She should be suspended or fired.

Already over. Said it over the weekend. Granted, it took a few days to pick up because nobody watches her atrocity of a show.

However, don't expect media outlets outside of Fox (even then, it's gonna be minimal) to pick up on it.

The best part is the apologies offered by the non-MHP members of the panel. While I don't buy her apology for a second, at least she feigned remorse.

In both incidents, those who found the remarks offensive had the opportunity to raise their voices in protest and influence the network to take action.

As it turned out, in both cases the person kept their job--though only one of them apologized for their remarks.

It's not just the undertone of racism but also the fact that she is going after the child of a political family which is an agreed upon "no-no" in the political community. If MSNBC lets her off with a Twitter apology, they have set a new low in political discourse.

Also on a sidenote, Harris-Perry to me represents a classic example why MSNBC struggles in the ratings. Her entire show is about engaging in pseudo-intellectual conversations with a bunch of liberal "yes man" panelists. She is painfully boring, not funny and not interesting in any form. She adds nothing new or different than all the other carbon copy MSNBC personalities like Maddow, Wagner, Hayes, Kornacki, etc. You'd think MSNBC would at least try to mix it up with personalities that have more appeal than the rock in your back yard but apparently not.

what has happened to human decency? I hate bullies and it seems as if today someone does not agree with your beliefs they say derogatory things about one another. If you can't say something nice about someone keep your mouth shut! I get so tired of hearing it from both sides.

A link to the story relating to your topic would've been nice. I had to look it all up. My comments:

I find it odd your saying that Harris-Perry's comments (or was it those of her panel?) were direcly racist while at the same time saying Phil R.'s was neither racist (maybe not... maybe just DELUSIONAL) nor anti-gay (you're kidding, right?)

Secondly, Harris-Perry, (she said she was "born into a large white Mormon family") didn't seem to say much herself. though certainly the comments made by her panel were in poor taste (and certainly, racist comments are racist comments whether we later claim we were "just joking" or not...right?)

And hey, she DID at least apologize for the remarks that she herself didn't make whether one wants to accept them or not unlike a certain Phil R., (though certainly she HAD to have known where this was going to go).

Overall, WAS the segment in bad taste? Cer... of course! The whole spot was ill advised.

And yes, to be taken in by any family, especially one with the means of the Romneys is indeed a blessing.

(And puh-LEEESE stop invoking Jackson and Sharpton EVERY FREKING TIME y'all think some kind of reverse racism shit is happening here....SO tiresome....certainly....)

The argument can be made on both sides regarding the Robertson and Perry. I just find it interesting, hysterical, disappointing etc. that we can be manipulated by the media to treat on person one way and another person by a different standard. If we want true equality then there should a penalty that fits all.

Regarding Sharpton and Jackson they are easy pawns to point at due to their fraudulent, misguided, racist, white hating views on almost anything. What church do they represent anyway? Have they ever actually worked in a church? (personally I am not sure).

White hating views :haha: As if you have institutionalized and systemic racism working against you

It's just this type of belief espoused by idiots who believe it's impossible for members of a given minority to be racist toward a certain majority.

Congrats on being worthy of such an esteem group!!

It's possible for members of a minority to be racist toward the majority, but the "institutionalized and systemic racism" only cuts the other way.

And only a fool would argue otherwise.

Clint's statements are over the top, but they're not unheard of my any stretch.

Still, nothing was mentioned about the aforementioned quote both you and BB (fitting, because he's about as useful as real blueballs) mention.

Esteemed*...too late to edit now

I don't understand what is so racist or offensive about saying someone might grow up and marry North West, unless you are a Kardashian-hater lol. Pretty desperate attacks by the right. Too bad that Harris-Perry caved in to Foxnewsistan and apologized.
That this is even being compared to the Duck Dynasty moron's comments is both ridiculous and offensive.

It's astonishing that you believe a Romney/West wedding is THE issue people have with that awful lisper's segment.

Highly ignorant or insincere and nothing more.

It's astonishing that you would have the nerve to wrongly attack my opinions as insincere after you yourself did nothing but personal ad hominem attacks on Harris-Perry for 2 pages now without ever even addressing the substance of what she actually said.

Did I though?

"I don't understand what is so racist or offensive about saying someone might grow up and marry North West, unless you are a Kardashian-hater lol."

Pretty sure that's your post verbatim. Is it not?

Like I said in the initial response, if you think that's what the right found fault with in that MHP segment, I would kindly ask you to watch it again and think about it.

However, you did nail the intent of my posts regarding Perry.

If you're interested, I DID leave my thoughts in a different category:

http://www.lpsg.com/373902-tremendously-enjoyable-bit-of-garbage.html

However, as you'll notice, I found no fault with what you seem to think the right is outraged about.

So, like I said, you either have no idea about the subject or are willfully neglecting the "right's" reaction. It has NOTHING to do with marrying into the West/Kardashian clan...

Unless you left us to do some MAJOR reading between the lines of your post, your analysis is so wrong it's almost laughable.
