A man in Finland has been sentenced to 5,5 years in prison for molesting over 40 underage girls. (For an adult, sexual intercourse is illegal in Finland with under-16-year-olds.)

The majority of these illegal intercourses took place OVER THE PHONE :smile::eek: Some of the cases involved net/cam activity, with one girl he actually met, and had live sex.

Not only can the physical sexual deed be criminal, so, it seems, is the idea, wish & intent.

Curious; the recent Jokela high school massacre (an 18-year-old student killed 8 and himself, after weeks of public plans in YouTube leading to it) brought to daylight one aspect of the Finnish law: it is NOT criminal or punishable to PLAN a shooting, murder or massacre. Compared to that, it seems amusing that talking sex on the phone with a willing and possibbly co-operating, if junior, partner can land you in jail for years. To love, or to kill, that is the question

In the UK its called grooming where a adult entices or encourages a minor (under the age of 18) to indulge in sexual acts; in the UK he would also be placed on the sex offenders register for anything from 5 years to the rest of his life this can have a major impact on getting a job as there are lots of jobs in the UK where a criminal records check is mandatory

Point is not that "phone sex" is illegal. Its illegal to involve minors. What kind of "man" deal only with minors?

Point is: to carefully p l a n the murder & massacre of people of ANY and many ages is legal; to involve minors in phone sex brings jailtime.

Are you sure the planning of a murder, etc. is legal? I'll bet that talking about doing it is not a crime...but actually planning with another person to do it is probably a conspiracy in Finland as it is in the US. There is another obvious difference, as well...you can not murder over the phone. But you can corrupt a minor over the phone. The conduit that the crimes can take are not the same.
