Very cool. I lived on Maui for a year and did a lot of diving, including around some whitetips, but never did as some of my coworkers did and grabbed them by the tails. Call me Chicken of the Sea.

But more importantly, what are some of the details of the research you're doing?

The goals of the study is to work out home ranges of the sharks for both conservation and reserch.
The hope is to create a marine park- green zone which means a no fishing- zero take area.
We have a very good mix of habitat from reefs to sea grass beds that attracts turtles and dugongs which are the main prey items for tiger sharks in this area.
The creation of a green zone that takes in these habitats and protects them are not only good for the tiger sharks, turtles and dugongs but for the whole marine ecosystem.
