i wonder if it's because we are the only country you've worked where we are the ones actually paying for the medical treatment we receive? in this case, the customer calls the shots.

Of course in the UK the government pays for the National Health Service with money they just conjure up out of thin air..........

Customers call the shots in other countries too you know and are just as demanding and discerning as they are in Canada and the US.

Your post was condescending to those outside of North America - and offensive to Doctors in North America.

I find North Americans quite prudish, and it amazes me.... such a liberal society in so many other terms.... yet so stuck up when it comes to nakedness. Quick to fuck anyone, have affairs, look at porn, sex at a young age, and yet "Oh My God... you want me to remove my clothes??"

Totally true, but then again there have been doctors accused of sexual abuse with a patient. To be honest I'm no stranger to being in the hospital and being told to put on a gown (I've only ever worn fabric gowns that are washed after use. Never Paper or anything like that). The only thing I don't like is that it's so cold in hospitals and doctor's offices that I get goosebumps. I'm usually very calm when being checked out so I don't think I have any problems with my heart rate going up while being checked out or anything.

I feel that nudity is natural, but I'm so sensitive to the cold that the only time I really go nude is when It's very hot in the summer.

of course there are doctors accused of sexual abuse. Im sure some of them have actually sexually abused someone, but dont for 1 second think that there arent some psychotic women out there just hoping the doctor doing the vaginal exam touches her accidentally incorrectly so she can yell rape.....i have seen it

As for a "medical degree granting powers", thats an insult to many many dedicated doctors who give of their all to help others! I have never abused my position as a doc, nor have I thought I am any greater than the plumber who removes sh*t out of my clogged toilet! His job is just as important in the grand scheme of things as mine! Being a doc is just a job!

I agree.....alot of people think you just see patients, charge exorbitant amounts of money then go home and sit on your yacht

if people only had any idea who much doctors have to do "outside of medicine" to actually run a successful practice or actually saw how many indigent patients a doctor sees on a daily basis knowing he will never receive payment they would be shocked

right now the tide is at "blame the doctors for everything".....but I believe in 15 years once baby boomers are really gettin older and theres such a doctor shortage that people will sing a different tune

I can well remember standing naked in a long line with other naked guys waiting for our first physical exam after being inducted into the armed forces. We were cold, we were anticipating receiving lots of shots and of course we were nervous.I certainly do not remember seeing any erections. A surprising number of guys fainted just as they were about to receive their shots. The only remarkable questions asked of me by the examining doctors pertained to my sexual preferences: first question asked whether I were a homosexual and the second question asked whether I would engage in homosexuality in a situation where there were no women partners available....obviously I replied in the negative to both questions
and moved forward toward my military career.

Amen to that! Our doctors, nurses, and other medical professional deserve much credit. I could not do what these people do for others. I have much
respect for what these people do on a daily basis.

A big thanks to all those who work in the medical field. My hat is off to you!

Lets also not forget how people come to doctors when they are SICK.....yeh a lot of the time its gastroenteritis or influenza or even URI of unknown aetiology.....however, lets also not forget the number of times we are at increased exposure risk of serious diseases. I have no idea how many patients I have seen who have ACTIVE tuberculosis. How many kids have we seen with whatever nasty viral infection.....and we all know kids are basically little incubators of germs.

I'm not portraying doctors as heroes but for crying out loud, alot of specialties really put themselves in harms way and get up close, touch and interact with people you would cross the street so you wouldnt have to walk by. There are bad doctors of course, but the vast majority have an innate ability and desire to help others when they're ill.....Trust me, it gets very tiring dealing with unappreciative people all day.....not to mention non-compliant people who will sue you at the drop of a hat

My comments also go for nurses, NP's, and PA's and anyone else directly involved in medical care. It really is a thankless career

Well you have my respect and appreciation and weather you realize it or not you are appreciated by alot of people. It's not a job for everyone and the years of college, training, sacrifice and risk are unimaginable to me.
You confirmed something for me also, I'm healthy as a horse and rarely catch a cold, flu...probably three times in my entire life. But it seems like whenever I am around kids, like visiting friends w/kids WHAM, some sort of little short term cold or flu-ish bug.
I suppose kids being in schools and daycare and all those places with so many children, all the surfaces to touch and spread germs. Yikes!
Better send Kim and Aggie from "How clean is your house" to some of the schools and daycares!

I do physical exams as part of my job and i was taught and still practice that this is done in the least embrassing way possible and maintain a person diginity. I work around a gown and move it to accomdate what I'm examining. I've found that some people are comfortable with nudity and others are not. Men sometimes get an erection and it has nothing to do with their sexual orientation but due to the simple fact of being touched. I always just engore it or I might comment "don't worry - this happens" Move on to another body area ASAP. Does anybody else ever get an erection while having an exam and how it is handled?

i have another friend who always gets a boner when he visit his dentist for dental work. The chick working there has blonde hair and big boobs and she leans over him a lot. He's hung like a horse and he told me one time she just kept staring at his crotch and leaning over agianst him to finish up her work.

This seems as good a place as any to put this but as I mentioned elsewhere; I ended up in hospital because of my back.

Because of some of the problems I was experiencing, the doctors kept getting me to lie on my side then they'd insert a (gloved and lubed obviously) finger into my ass and ask me to squeeze on it. I had this done countless times and when I changed hospitals for the one where they were going to actually do the operation, the doctor there was a bit nervous about it. I just said "Yes, I know, you want to stick your finger inside me, they've all done it, don't worry, I'm getting very used to it now." He laughed bless him.

He then said it would be the last time it happened and I said "Yeah right, till the morning when they come and do rounds before sending me to theatre. I don't care any more doctor, I just want the pain to stop!"

What do you mean there???

Funny, I always get a partial boner at the dentist too. I'm one of those rare people that enjoys going to the dentist--something about lying in that chair with my legs spread that turns me on.

As far as visiting the doctor, I've never been asked to wait naked, although I always change into a gown. I don't know that I would care one way or the other--most doctors are so clinical in their approach to the human body I've never had any reason to feel self conscious.

I loved going to the pediatric dentist when I was younger. Not because of him (he was a nice guy and all, but even then I preferred girls), but because of the young women who worked there and did most of the cleaning/tweaking/checkup work. Thinking back, I wonder if I started sprouting boners there...

i remember when i was 12 there was a dental hygenist who was young and had gigantic breasts that she would put ridiculously close to my face as she was cleaning my teeth.....oh man the thoughts that go thru a 12 year olds head
