I have heard that this is a pretty reliable way to determine if a guy is hung. If the finger next to his pinky is longer than his INDEX finger he is hung. This study has been pretty reliable

If by "hung" you mean "has a penis"

On average, most males have a ring finger longer than their index fingers, most females have index fingers longer than their ring fingers. Length of the ring finger is believed to be tied to exposure to testonsterone in the womb. (Success isn't written in the stars, it's in the length of your fingers - Science, News - The Independent)

There is no reliable study that indicates ring finger > index finger = big penis.

The slang definition of "hung" is "having large or very large genitals" according to a Google search I did recently. This is the meaning that I had in mind when I posted my original question. I think most people who have responded have had the same understanding. Now that's cleared up it appears that the most generally accepted physical indicator is finger measurement - thumb to index or ring to index. That's interesting because I had not heard of that before. It seems that other suggested indicators are unreliable. Here's an opportunity for someone with plenty of stamina to gather empirical evidence. Thanks to everyone who has contributed to this discussion ....

I think there's no indicator, but probably low body fat percentage in general? I've heard that men that have high testosterone levels, have less fat and they keep fit with less exercize. Of course thin guys have longer cocks, because the fat pad is smaller.

i have found its from the tip of the fingers to the elbo....not sure if its just me tho...

LOL there isnt one, cock size is like any other size. Some have long feet some long fingers some long cocks. Nothing can be a indicator.

Sure it's not from the tip of your index finger to the bend in the boomerang that you're holding?

There's nothing that is a 100% indicator. I'm 5'9, wear size 9 shoes and have a 7" cock. My BF is 6'2, wears size 11 shoes and is 6". His hands are bigger than mine; his thumbs are bigger than mine. His toes are longer than mine.. etc. But my dick is bigger than his.

BUT... a friend is of mine is 6' tall, has huge hands, huge feet and a HUGE cock!

Today at breakfast I noticed the guy sitting near my table. He was probably 18 years old (HS football player type if you get the picture). Tall and with the biggest thumbs I've ever seen. I wondered if there was any correlation.

I can't cite the exact study it was, but the only physical indicators the people doing the study could link to penis size were height and health; and they ended the study by stating that neither of those were true indicators of penile size.

There are 2 valid indicators as some already posted.

1. Body height :
Remember Da Vinci. All body parts correlate slightly with the body height.
Someone of 6' will have more chance to have bigger feet, longer leggs and yes even a bigger head... than someone of 5'6"
Notice the word "slightly"

2. The ring-finger vs the index-vinger :
The testosteron level of woman and men is quiet different.
Men have mostly a longer ring-finger than the index-finger.
When the ringfinger is noticable much longer than the index-finger he had during is time in the womb already a high testosteron level.
This high level will cause that his puberty starts earlier and more chance to have ... yes a bigger penis.
Notice : Women have mostly the ring and index-finger of the same length.
If the ring-finger is noticeable shorter; she has a lower testosteron level; and is than more directed to family-caring and not so into sex.

Remark : these are generalisations - but if I must choose 2 man out of 10 for the biggest dick - I took the tallest guy and the 1 with the most difference between index and ringfinger.
I would have more chance than just picking them randomly.

It made sense to me that a guys physical size would be reflected in the rest of his body parts.

The only correlation I have come across is the inverse of this, and that is that it is hypothesised that men with higher than average levels of testosterone have larger than average penis size, and men with higher than average levels of testosterone are generally slimmer (more muscle, less body fat), and sometimes shorter than average (they are more likely to start puberty earlier). It is not absolute, so don't take this as a statement that every well-hung man is short and slim, or every short and slim man is well hung, but I have seen two studies with this correlation.

On a personal level, I did get to know a number of escorts on a business and social basis, and they confirmed that physically smaller men were often a surprise, and physically bigger men were often a disappointment (their words). Between them, we would talking in the order of tens of thousands of erect penises (say 3 women who were about 10 years in the industry, by 3 clients per average day by 200 working days per year).

There have been dozens, if not hundreds, of studies on this issue that debunk all of the common beliefs. One recent study, however, did find a positive statistical correlation between height and a negative correlation to body fat:

Folk beliefs suggest that penis size is related
to other physical traits, such as foot size, hand
size, height, and weight (Paley, 1999). Past research
with sizable samples has found penis size
to be correlated positively with height (Edwards,
1998; Ponchietti et al., 2001) and negatively
with weight (Ponchietti et al., 2001), but
in one small-scale study (Schneider et al., 2001)
it was found to be unrelated to age.

I KNEW there was a reason my genetics made me 6'6" tall! But even that statistical correlation is rife with exceptions, so a guy being tall just increases the odds that he may be hung, it doesn't guarantee it. Nor does it say that short men can't be hung, it's just statistically less likely. That study also found that:

... only about 2.5% of men possessed a
penis over 6.9 in. (17.5 cm) long (erect) ...

and that virtually all men overstate the size of their penises (now isn't that a shocker?) I can't tell you how many times I've arranged to hook up with a new buddy (found on the internet) who claims to have an 8 inch cock and when we actually meet in the flesh (err ... um ... so to speak) he can only find five or six inches of it. When I tell people that I'm 8 x 6 it's only an exaggeration of 1/8 of an inch in length and understating the girth by about the same fraction. 8 x 6 is simply a nice round number. But it seems that a majority of the male population claims that very size so when I MEAT up with someone new they are always shocked by my size. Guess you're not supposed to be honest.

If anyone is interested in the study I am quoting here, the full text can be found at:

funniest indicator that I've heard up to date, is someone basing dick size on a man's nose. If that's the case, I got screwed, I should have well over a foot long lol

The charts in the study definitely show a positive correlation between self reported size and height.

Those who are very tall report themselves as large more often and as small less often.

The cynic in me wants to think that people believe there should be a positive correlation between size and height - and as a result, tall people are more inclined to lie about their size.

What I would like to know is what characteristics correlate positively with an attractive penis . . . but maybe that's another thread.

Virargus - i'm new also (last month) and i have not read any debate on the issue, but have always wondered too. That thumb thing, my thumbs are wider than anyone i know, but i'm not hung or thick...Guys from college, locker rooms, sometimes you see a hard-on, and check'em out, and damn, i could never find anything that i'd seen before, but maybe i just didn't remember? dunno. it will be interesting to see if any actual indicators appear. thanks for posting this.

In my experience, if you are confident and proud of what you've got, your partner will feel the same way and your physical dimensions will not matter.

Conversely, if you are hung like a donkey but lack self-confidence, your partner won't be satisfied, which is what it's all about anyway.....

It appears there are as many theories on this subject as there are opinions based on personal experience (sometimes). I would have thought that there was anecdotal evidence that the larger the guy - bone and lean muscle mass not fat - the larger all his parts have to be to keep his physical structure in proportion. This seems to be the case for the muscular and bony parts of his body - legs, arms, skull etc, - but is not necessarily the case with the parts of his body like his penis which do not rely on skeletal structure and muscle mass to perform. In the case of his penis it is blood flow that counts. Does this mean that the volume of blood, the condition of his arteries and vascular system and the size of his heart plays a bigger role than muscle and bone mass? It's another theory that deserves consideration.

I agree but the original post was about physical indicators not self confidence. I'm sure there are plenty of threads that deal with mental issues about size.
