He often makes giant leaps to conclusions that throw out anyone elses point of view but his own. Not to believe that people actually like the way their piercings look before getting them. There is a lot of thought that goes into investing into a good piercer, jewelry, aftercare and the costs in the past year have been pretty high for me. It's a huge commitment. to tell those who have carefully thought out why they want a certain area pierced that they must have something wrong with them because he doesnt buy the "i like the way it looks" theory is rude. Snoozan made a very valid point.
I don't follow his posts so I have no idea what kind of giant leaps to conclusions he makes on a regular basis. I don't think that he said that people didn't like the way that their piercings look get them anyway, he just said that he thought that
the motivation for piercings are usually not for aesthetic appeal but for social and cultural ones. His language was more coarse than mine. That's not to say that one can't like the way that the piercings look, I mean...
of course you liked the way a clit piercing looks before you got yours done! It would be ludicrous to assume the opposite. He shouldn't have worded it the way that he did, or maybe his position on piercing wasn't very nuanced at all and I am reading too much into his statement (maybe he's an idiot?).
As to the old fashioned thing... it seems that primitive cultures are the ones who have all of the body piercings and the piercings of today borrow from those cultures. A lot of people with Anglo Saxon genetics feel a kinship with the legend of the Celts and in turn have embraced tattoos and piercings to feel more "tribal" or "Celtic". Piercings are a throwback to the old primitive days, so by definition, it is the piercings that are old fashioned.
So... after all of that, congratulations on your piercing!!! I think that it would have excellent visual appeal with your spiked red hair and pale skin. I always loved hardcore chicks like Annie Lennox, and you are like her but prettier and more feminine! :biggrin1:
